Inu Yasha headed back towards the well. Before going in, he chanced a glance behind him. Kagome's light was on.
Can I go forward when my heart is here?
Turn back, dull earth, and find thy center out.
He could see her silhouette through the curtains as she changed into her nightwear.
But soft! What light through yonder window breaks?
It is the East, and Juliet is the sun!
Kagome opened her window and let the cool breeze sweep away all of her thoughts. She sighed as her mind returned to reflections of Inu Yasha.
See how she leans her cheek upon that hand,
O, that I were a glove upon that hand,
That I might touch that cheek!
"Where are you when I need you most?" she cried to the night sky. "Not Kikyou, yet always…" Inu Yasha was pained to hear the name of his "former" love. Who was he kidding? It wasn't as if Kikyou and he met in the dead of the night.
My only love, sprung from my only hate!
Too early seen unknown, and known too late!
Prodigious birth it is to me
That I must love a loathèd enemy.
"I love you, Inu Yasha! Don't you know?" Tears coursed down her cheeks as she poured out her heart to no one in particular.

Inu Yasha remained quiet. Kagome finished her soliloquy and closed her window. Pretty soon, her lights went off. All was silent at the Higurashi house; not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
