A/N Warning: Character death.

A/N This was written simultaneously with a real obituary I needed to write for a family member so it's kind of a strange catharsis. It was written quickly and finished. Wenwalke encouraged me to post it, so I am - as is. There was no real reason for writing this other than it was in my head. I do not want Danny written off the series (if you know me at all, that's downright obvious) and believe 100% that if for some reason Scott wasn't going to be in the series that there would be no way that CBS would renew it. The H50 producers held up production back in 2010 until they could convince Scott to sign on and they've worked out the current arrangement in order to keep him, so… Danny's not going away – thankfully.

Detective Daniel "Danny" Williams, second in command of the Five-0 task force passed away on Friday in the line of duty. He was awarded a posthumous medal of valor for his actions. The highly decorated officer was the loving, doting father of Grace and Charles.

Born in Newark NJ, Williams graduated from Seton Hall University in 1998 where he was captain of the baseball team, leading the Pirates to three Conference Championships and one State Tournament, while playing shortstop. He was an officer in the Newark Police Department for only four years before being promoted to the rank of Detective. While there, Williams received numerous commendations for valor and merit. He was credited with having a large role in the dismantling of the D'Angelis crime family as well as a Russian syndicate.

Shortly after his transfer to the Honolulu police department in 2010 Williams was chosen for the elite Five-0 task force where he was appointed second in command, reporting directly to the Governor. His commitment and dedication to the job were evident again in that position and he received numerous citations and honors and was often recognized for his expertise in proper police procedure.

Affectionately known as Danno to those closest to him, Williams will be remembered for his propensity for long-winded rants, his caustic sense of humor, an exceptional and at times very creative vocabulary, an excellent athletic ability, and an unapologetic hatred of pineapple pizza. He will more so, however, be remembered for his profound sense of honor and loyalty, his heart of gold, his priority of always putting family first and as a fierce protector of children. His trust and friendship were hard earned but once given were held as a sacred trust.

Williams is survived by his two children, Grace and Charles of Honolulu, HA, his parents Edward and Clara Williams of Newark, NJ, two sisters, Stella and Donna and her husband Richard, both sets of grandparents and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, including Eric Russo of the Honolulu PD Crime Lab. He is also survived by his Hawaiian Ohana, including Steve McGarrett, Chin Ho Kelly, Kono Kalakaua, and Lou Grover. He was pre-deceased by his younger brother Matthew.

Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he will be given full police honors.

It is said in scripture that there is no greater love that a man can have than to lay down his life for a friend. Williams' final act proved that love for his Five-0 partner Steve McGarrett.

Rest in peace Danno.
