It was a dull morning. The rain kept falling while I was eating my breakfast. However, I was really, really happy. It was my birthday! Not only that, it also meant that today was another big step of my life, for I would be a pokemon trainer. Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Lyra, Lyra Kotone. I'm now ten years old. Yeah, I'm pretty young for travling, but I like it, what could be wrong?
I finished my toast, and ran to the door step,("Don't forget your bag, Lyra!") and found out that I was nose to nose into my best friend, Ethan. He rolled his eyes and talked in a crappy voice. "Well, well, if it isn't Lyra Kotone, the most idiotic pokemon trainer in the worl"- I kicked him 'hard' in the shins. Still hearing the yelps from outside, I happily ran toward the lab door, and found three pokeballs beside the professer.
The pokeballs were gleaming red, and pearly white. I fingered the smooth cover, which lead into the small button in the middle. Now, I was going to choose my pokemon, chikorita, totodile, or cyndaquil. I wanted my own pokemon when I was seven, and had to pant jealously when Ethan strolled around, with his darling marill. Just because he was a couple of months older than me, nobody said he could be a total showoff. He forever taunted me, so he got a black eye. It was his fault anyway.
Now, back to what I wanted. I really wanted a chikorita. It looked so sweet, his delicate leaf hanging, wine colored bright eyes, pale green skin... (I told Ethan this, he said I was girly and laughed, snorting. I'm not the best at keeping tempers, so I gave him another black eye. And that's recent, so you would see now that his eye had gone a beautiful shade of green, purple, and yellow. )
With no hesitation, I chose a pokeball with a chikorita in it. He tumbled out, yawned and looked at me, staring... As if he wanted to remember me. He sniffed my hand, as if to know my scent. "It tickles!" I giggled. He just blinked. "Take good care of the little fellow!" The professor laughed.
I took the little green creature out of the lab. It tried to catch a yellow butterfly, tumbled, and fell flat on his face. He looked somehow annoyed and confused. I smiled at it. "Wait, I have to get you a name!" ..."How about..uh..leaf?" The chikorita, now aka Leaf said, "Chiko." I smiled. According to my book of pokemon lauguages, 'Chiko' meant yes.
I ran into Ethan again. He saw Leaf and said, "Whoah, a chikorita..looks like you, it has green tinged skin, like a alien.. or whatever." Leaf glared at him, and bit his ankle. "What the - ow! s, stop!" He howled. I just said coolly, "Even if Leaf has green skin, he's way smarter than you anyway..What's the difference of you and a ratata?" He groaned (Leaf had bitten a chunk out of his pants) and said, "Your mother said to get your pokegear..come along."
My mother greeted Ethan. "Look at the weeny chikcorita! isn't he cute?" Ethan hid his feelings by kicking a nearby ratata. "Lyra, here's your pokegear...have a nice adventure, and come home whenever you're tired." I sighed. "I'll miss you mom.. however.. not you!" I yelled as I spotted Ethan, who was trying to force-feed one of his socks to Leaf, who was sqrirming. "Anyway, bye, Lyra..see you." Ethan seemed like a real best friend now. "Okay, bye, everyone!"
I went cheerfully out with Leaf untill I spotted a strange redhaired boy. He was there when I went into the lab. He was gazing at the pokemons hungrily. Hmm...who was he? What was he doing there?
