"Arcanine, finish this battle with Fire Blast!" called Lukas. The canine obeyed, shaking its fluffy head and releasing a blast of flame at the Lucario, which leapt out of the way, although not fast enough to avoid a small burn on its fur. With a snarl, it plunged forwards, its paws glowing with a powerful Aura Sphere, which it plunged into Arcanine's chest. With a howl of pain, the large quadruped sank its fangs into the jackal-like Pokemon, shaking it back and forth until it collapsed. Fainted.

"That was your last Pokemon!" cried Lukas triumphantly. "I win!"

Cynthia gazed calmly at him, her expression unreadable. "Yes, you have won, Lukas. You are the new Pokemon Champion."

Then, she turned to a speaker on the wall. "Release the reporters."

There was a click.

Instantly, a wave of people waving cameras and notebooks charged into the room, overwhelming Lucas and his Arcanine, who whimpered and dove back into his Pokeball. Lucas only wished he could follow as the questions overwhelmed him...

"How did you raise such a powerful team?"

"What was your strategy for beating Cynthia?"

"Who helped you in your quest?"

"Wha-wha-what? What is this?" demanded Lucas, turning to Cynthia in anger. She was already at the door, her hand on the knob. But she turned her head and smiled devilishly.

"It's simple," she replied sweetly. "You beat me, kid. And now every person with a team who manages to blast through the rest of the Elite 4 is going to come looking for you. Bye, kid."

She opened the door and walked out.

Inspired by a Far Side cartoon. So how did you like it? Seriously, how can you go tramping around after you become Pokemon Champion? Don't you then have to face a whole bunch of trainers demanding a battle?
