"Remus!"

Tonks ran through the halls of Hogwarts, screaming for the man she loved.

He must be alive. He can't be dead. It's Remus. He can't die, Tonks desperately thought to herself.

He can't be gone.

Everyone she had asked had said the same thing. He had been fighting Dolohov and hadn't been seen since.

Tonks stunned a pacing Death Eater as she raced past. She dodged the curses that flew out of the dust, her mind fixed on one thing.

Remus.

Then she saw him.

He wasn't gone.

He was still fighting Dolohov, still shooting curses and hexes at the Death Eater. Tonks' heart flew upward. He was fighting, but he was alive.

"Remus!"

His head turned and he saw her. He face turned into one of horror, one of shock and pleading to go home to Teddy.

"Remus! I'm here, I'm alright-"

Her eyes caught something moving toward him.

"REMUS LOOK OUT," she screamed.

His head turned back to Dolohov, but it was too late.

The killing curse caught him on the side of the head.

A scream tore itself from Tonks' lips. She raced toward him, throwing others out of the way, her eyes fixed on the sprawled form of her husband.

His amber eyes were open in shock, a look of horror still on his face.

"Remus," Tonks whispered.

But he was gone.

She sobbed into his unmoving chest. She was so wrapped up in her despair, that she did not see the figure detach itself from the shadows behind her. She did not hear the whisper of her name. She saw only the dead face of Remus. Then,

'Avada Kedavra!"

Bellatrix screeched the words to the night.

The curse hit Tonks like a punch. She felt the like being ripped from her, darkness rush toward her and felt her body tip sideways, her head fell onto Remus' chest and her hand drop into his.

And she knew there was now one more orphan in the world. One more boy without parents, without a family.

One more child, whose parents were gone.
