Is Summer Overrated?

Is Summer Overrated?
It was another summer day how great was that? Really great if you liked summer. Most people loved the summer for its heat and the freedom it brought with the summer brake and period of time away from school. Summer, perfect for love and romance right? whatever!
Kairi sighed as she lay back in the long grass resting her head on her arms. She pushed her sunglasses over her eyes and allowed the sun to heat her as she sighed again not content with the atmosphere. Too many people she guessed but what else would she have expected? It was in the park after all.
Her long brown hair shown in the sunrays and she even allowed herself to relax and let her thoughts drift uninterrupted that was until a shadow blocked the sunrays. She frowned and sat up pushing her shades down her nose to look up at the person standing in her way of a tan.
"Hi Kairi" Yugi smiled brightly.
"Oh Hi Yugi" she said bluntly.
Yugi blinked and cocked his head to one side but chose to ignore the cold touch in the girl's voice as he gazed into her icy blue eyes. He was lost in their shining depths till Kairi blinked and in so shook him from his trance.
"Can I help you?" She asked sitting up.
"Nah I just saw you on your own and thought you could use the company" The tri-haired teen smiled shyly and sat beside her.
"Ok then" She raised an eyebrow and laid back down in the grass.
Yugi did the same and watched the clouds for awhile but then turned to face the 16-year-old and drift off into a daydream. He had a crush on her that was true but she wasn't the easiest person to get close to. She was nothing like Tea or Mai, she was just perfect in his eyes but he wished she would let him into her heart.
Kairi caught the longing gaze Yugi was giving her from the corner of her eye and smirked to herself. She knew he liked her and well she liked him but.. She wasn't sure if she wanted a relationship after all people seemed to just piss her off. But Yugi didn't, where most stayed away from her he was always trying to befriend her.
She sat up with a sigh and looked around the park and saw all the happy families and couples and knew deep down she wanted to be part of a couple. With Yugi the only boy who really showed her true affection.
"What's up?" Yugi asked and sat up.
"Just thinking" She smiled at him, which caused a wide cheerful grin to spread on the boy's face.
They both tried to settle in a comfortable sitting position with Yugi's hand brushed Kairi's both looked at each other with a faint blush. A cliché yes, but one that wasn't unwanted by either as they moved closer to each other.
"I have something I want to say" Yugi rubbed the back of his neck in a nervous fashion.
"Go on" Kairi said smirking. "I like you. I mean. really like you.."
"I like you too I mean. really like you" She mocked his tone, a little which made Yugi blush and smile weakly.
"You mean it?" Yugi asked.
Kairi leaned forward and kissed him softly on the lips.
"Does that answer your question?" She asked.
Yugi blushed and took this opportunity to be forward and leaned over and kissed her while wrapping his arms around her. Kairi didn't pull away instead she let him run his hands through her hair. He seemed to become braver when she returned the kiss and put her arms around him in return.
Is Summer over rated? Maybe.. Just maybe. but was love over rated? Not by far..
