Shadow was casually walking through the forest when he saw her. Maroon quills, yellow eyes.
"Kayla?" he gasped.
The hedgehog looked at him with fear in her eyes and ran.
"
Kayla!" he yelled, chasing after her.
She looked over her shoulder, terrified, and ran faster. Suddenly, he lost sight of her, and stopped runnin. What just happened?
He looked around and sighed. It must've been a hallucination of some sort. At least...that's what he thought, until the leaves of a tree shook, and he saw a flash of marooon. He jumped into it and saw that she was already gone.
He furiously punched the tree and jumped back down. It wasn't a hallucination...but was it Kayla? And if so...how was she alive? He shook his head and put a hand to his forehead.
"Who was that?" he murmured.
Meanwhile...
She jumped into another tree and realized that she wasn't being followed. Her chest rose and fell rapidly, her breathing ragged, and her muscles aching. She made sure the black and red hedgehog still wasn't following her...her uncle had warned her that he was shuddered a little, then vanished into the shadows, and vanished.
Shadow walked back into the base, ignoring everyone, and went into his room. He sat down on the bed an tried to figure out who it was he had just seen. It couldn't be her...could it? He held in a groan as he began to get a headache.
He laid down and gazed at the ceiling, trying to make the headache go away. It had been almost two weeks since she'd died. G.U.N was leaving him alone, actually...he'd quit. He'd forgotten about that.
The commander didn't seem surprised, Shadow figured he wouldn't. It was his fault she'd died. If he hadn't taken her prisoner...Shadow shook his head and stopped thinking about it.
A sudden knock on the door made him jump and he opened it.
Amy was standing on the other side, "We're all going out. Want to come?"
He crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow, "You want me to come?"
"No, not me. Sonic's freaking out though," she said.
"No thanks," he replied and shut the door.
He didn't want the faker's pity. He sat back down on the bed, but then stood back up a few seconds later as someone knocked on the door again.
"I swear, I'll pound your face in," he growled.
Sonic smiled nervously, "Just makin' sure you're okay."
"Leave me alone," he snapped and shut the door.
He heard Sonic walk away, the front door open, and then close again. About time, he thought angrily. He'd been more moody lately. He was pretty sure everyone was sick of it.
Well...he could tell Amy was. She didn't have a problem with showing how much she was tired of his mood. He just blew her off...making her even more mad. Oh well...he didn't care.
Still...there was that incident earlier. The thought suddenly penentrated his mind. Who was she?
IT'S BACK! :D Yeah, it's only been a day, but I've been pursuaded to write a second one. :) Read, Review, and Enjoy!
