Alexander was restless, he had gone to bed as early as duties would allow him to where once there he had hoped he would fall asleep as soon as his head touched the pillow but his plans of a good sleep soon disappeared as something was keeping him awake, though he had no idea what it was.
He tried closing his eyes and lying still hoping that his body would shut down eventually but it didn't, it like him was wide awake. Letting out a long sigh of frustration he threw back the covers and swung his legs over the side judging by dull blue light that filled the tent it was very early in the morning, so he had slept at some point he just hadn't realized it. He sat there with his hand in his chin deciding what to do since sleep was out of the question, Standing up he stretched before reaching for the robe that was slung over the back of a chair and headed for outside.
It was a cold morning maybe he should get something a bit warmer, nah he wasn't going far and plus it will be warmer where he was going. Pulling his thin robe closer about his body and putting his hands under his armpits he set off towards Hephaistion's tent which wasn't far from his own.
Once he arrived at Hephaistion's tent he simply let himself in and just as he had expected found Hephaistion sound asleep, no problems.
Luckily swine Alexander thought I'm wide awake and he's sleeping like a baby.
Hephaistion was on his side with both arms out in front lips half parted breathing softly, Alexander was careful when he laid down next to him propped up by his left elbow finger's spread out in his hair. He found himself just laying there wide awake, watching while Hephaistion slept before long he found himself reaching out and touching.
He reached over and began gently to run his forefinger and middle finger down Hephaistion nose, once he reached the tip he would return to the top and started again, a gesture they had since childhood. He smiled when Hephaistion stirred by frowning in his sleep and made a moan of annoyance before a hand went up to bat his hand away, he smiled even more when Hephaistion blinked awake and looked around all confused he looked even more confused when he saw Alexander there.
"It's early," He said "go back to sleep."
Hephaistion took one last look around before snuggling deeper into the covers, sighed once then was gone.
Alexander smiled to himself once more as he let his elbow that was holding his head up flop down and brushed a stray strand of hair from Hephaistion's sleep slack face before laying his head down onto the spare pillow and soon followed suit.
