A/N Set during Diana's wedding, because I love the looks between Gil and Anne in that scene. I've always thought the expression "dead gone" was so romantic. This is my first fic that isn't LO:CI, so let me know what you think!
What did it mean to be "dead gone" on someone?
Gilbert Blythe has always wondered about this expression that was usually followed by girlish sighs or giggles. They said the teacher was dead gone on Prissy Andrews. They said Moody was dead gone on Josie Pye. They said that Josie Pye was dead gone on Gilbert - or any other male who dared to look her in the eyes. What did it mean?
Was it the feeling that one person was more important than anything in the world and nothing else mattered much anymore?
Was it the searing pain that went through a person's heart whenever they saw that someone?
Was it the giddy feeling that was simultaneously going on in their stomach when they saw them?
Perhaps it was meant to be taken literally. Perhaps it meant that you somehow knew that you would carry that person in your heart until your dying breath.
Was it "dying" to oneself so that the other may "live"?
Was it going out of your mind because they took up too much space, being in it constantly?
Was it that one sided love that couldn't be stopped, no matter how one tried?
Whatever the real definition was, Gilbert Blythe wasn't sure. He was only sure of one thing, as he watched the beautiful redheaded bridesmaid coming up the aisle.
Gilbert Blythe was dead gone on Anne Shirley.
