A/N: I love this scene so freaking much, and as you can see in 'Our Duty is To Protect', I really rather exaggerated Jack and Bunny's angst/rivalry. I just 3 it! LOL. I'm done now, guys.
"I mean, what's this clown know about bringing joy to children anyway?"
Jack's head whipped around and his ice-colored eyes turned cold. (No pun intended.)
"Uh, you ever hear of a snow day?" Jack asked, clearly sarcastic. "I know it's no hard-boiled egg, but kids like what I do."
"But none of 'em believe in you." Bunny stood up and leaned closer to Jack, begging to have that furry little face frozen in a block of ice…
Control your temper, Jack, he chastised himself.
Bunny was still talking. "Do they? You see, you're invisible, mate. It's like you don't even exist."
Jack dropped his head, but Tooth was sure she caught the shadow of a smile on his face as she gasped, and fluttered over to them. "Bunny! Enough!"
There was the briefest of pauses as Jack struggled to compose himself, and almost at once he said, "No. The kangaroo's right." He gave a nod of confirmation in Bunny's direction, letting him know he was correct.
"The—the what?" Bunny sputtered. "I am not a kangaroo, mate."
"And this whole time I thought you were," Jack said cuttingly. "If you're not a kangaroo…what are you?" The sting in his voice was apparent, but outdone by Bunny's next words.
"I'm a bunny. The Easter Bunny. People believe in me."
There was a silence as every Guardian saw the frozen tears in Jack's grayish eyes as he and Bunny stared each other down.
Sandy looked deeply uncomfortable; Bunny had never gone that far with anyone else.
So he quickly nudged Santa, who nodded at him and stepped forward. "Jack. Walk with me."
