The Day He Lost (Game Verse)

On a mountain where snow swirled around in an almost endless cycle, two silhouettes could be seen on the summit. Between the two figures, another pair could be seen. While the first pair were upright and slightly worse for wear, the latter two were hunched over, as if injured.

On one side, a boy with a red hat could be seen. He had crimson red eyes that could pierce into your very soul. Even in the chilly conditions, he only wore a thin, red jacket. On the other side of the clearing, a younger boy could be seen. Like the former boy, he also had a hat on. Though, his was worn backwards and had a black and yellow striped design. He had a thin jacket on also.

Currently, their Pokèmon were tired out from an intense battle. Both sides could only watch and see which of their partners could outlast the other. Both of their first Pokèmon stood in a heated stare off, trying to outlast the other. The ex-Kanto champion watched with an unreadable expression as his partner, no, his best friend, gave a weak smile before falling to the ground, fainted.

The Johto champ whooped and congratulated his buddy, before making his way over to the other boy.

"Thanks for the amazing battle Red." He stated,"You sure do live up to the legends surrounding you."

The boy, now named Red, gave a nod of acknowledgement without saying a word.

"By the way." The boy stated,"My name is Gold."

"Red."

Even if it was only one word, that was the first word he had spoken all battle. After he introduced himself, Gold started to congratulate his partner again. Red silently picked up Pikachu, his partner. He smiled sadly as he looked at his fallen friend. He silently took out a couple of Hyper Potions and a single Revive.

After giving Pikachu a pat on the back and some medicine, Red went over to Gold and his Typhlosion and silently handed him the remaining Hyper Potion.

"Thanks!" Gold exclaimed while applying the potion.

Red simply stared.

"You are the first person to beat me. For that I congratulate you." Red said

Gold smiled and gave a small salute. Red nodded and watched as Gold returned his Typhlosion to his Pokèball. As good started back down the mountain, Red watched as his Pikachu jumped onto his shoulder. He cried his name and looked at Red; which caused Red to smile fondly.

Gold looked up towards Red a yelled a goodbye. Red gave a small wave as he turned back towards the cave. Gold left with a smile on his face. Not because he had beat Red, because he had made friends with the living legend. Whose legend still lived on.
