Meredith was walking down the hallway in the hospital. She left her kids with a nurse and was about to tell everyone about Derek. She hadn't eaten since her last surgery and she was getting dehydrated from all of the crying. She didn't even change her clothes from the day before when she watched Derek die. Derek is dead. Meredith started to wobble and then collapsed. A nurse rushed to her and when she woke up, she was in the chief's office. Dr. Hunt looked at her and she sat up. Dr. Webber came over with Dr. Bailey in tow. "Meredith what happened?" She didn't know who said it but her answer made them stare at her in shock. "Derek is dead." Miranda started to cry and Richard held her tightly wrapping his arms around her. "What?" Hunt asked. "He was in a car accident. He was hit. He died." Tears slipped down her face as she spoke. "Derek is dead." She repeated it over and over in her head but it just didn't make sense. Derek couldn't be dead, he just couldn't. They had survived so much together. Meredith started to cry harder as she processed what had happened. Amelia walked in and jumped when she noticed all of them crying. Meredith looked up and her and Amelia held contact for about a minute before Meredith said "Derek died." Meredith's voice cracked at the end and she cried even harder. Her chest started to tighten up and she pulled on Bailey's sleeve. "I…I am having a heart-heart a-attack." Meredith fell on the floor and Hunt ran to go get a crash cart. "She doesn't have a pulse. Amelia said as she checked all around Meredith's neck for a pulse. "Why the hell doesn't she have a pulse?!" Amelia was now screaming and crying. She couldn't deal with everything that was happening. Amelia got up and rushed out of the room looking for somewhere that had peace and quiet. Bailey had grabbed Meredith's hand and was squeezing tightly and whispering to Meredith for her to wake up. Richard was holding Meredith's other hand.
She looked up and saw Derek. He was smiling tenderly at her. She smiled and got up with him. He helped her up and they looked at each other. "I missed you." "I missed you too." Meredith looked down and saw her body on the ground and Bailey and Richard holding her hands. She tried to walk out of her body but it wouldn't work. Derek looked at her and nodded down at her lifeless looking body. "Go. I will see you soon, just not right now." He kissed her goodbye and she went back into her body.
