They stood a meter apart, just watching for the other to react. Snowflakes melted in their hair, and both hands shook. Hesitantly, the girl reached out an arm, but paused before her fingers brushed his broad chest. His look was uncertain, him mind plagued with uncertainty and false hope. was this really happening. The wind seemed to stop, as if the world its self had stopped to take a breath. His chest rose and fell in time with hers. Her eyes were wary, more hopeful than his own. a small sound escaped her lips, somewhere between a whimper and a sigh. She took a step forward, hand still raised before her, and with a sob fell into his arms.

He wrapped his arms around her, feeling her body heave, still in a sort of trance. She grasped at the leather covering his chest, finding no purchase. Her knees gave way as her body shook with tears, her fingers finding the fur lining of his cloak and pulling him down with her. the Snow was cold against his legs as he hit the ground, entangled in the wool of her dress. A dry sob reached his throat, triggering a wave of tear less cries of sadness. It rushed over them, the grief of everything they had lost, the joy at finding one another. She looked up at him, Bright blue eyes gazing into chocolate brown.
