Sacrifice

One of the many FG poems I have written This is from Julian's perspective from when he realized what he had to do to save Jenny from the other Shadow Men. Major Spoilers for FG3: The Kill.

Sacrifice

As I stand here defeated,

Watching the world come tumbling down,

I feel my already broken heart

Shatter on the frozen ground.

Foolishly, you saved the others

And now you face an impending price.

But I can't let them have you,

Only I can save your life.

I know you can't allow yourself to love me,

It's okay, I'll still live on in your heart.

And with my death - my vanishing,

You can have a brand new start.

You are everything bright;

The sunlight that I can never have,

And I would die a thousand deaths

To never see you sad.

Reality awaits you,

But the Shadows want their claim.

When I am gone, you'll be all right,

Please don't ever feel ashamed.

It's simple, this is how it has to be.

My sacrifice will save you,

You don't have to cry for me.

I'll love you forever, living on in your dreams.
