The day Alex lost the ring, would be the most important of his life, of her life. He was planning on asking Claire to marry him.
Tess just found out she didn't had cancer, and the lump that she find was benign, so she wouldn't be treated for cancer, so no chemo.
Claire and Tess decided to give a party, for Tess being healthy, and for Alex moving in.
Tess had seen a white brumby following her around. She thought she was going to die, but in the end it was all good news.
"Aaah, I forgot the corn chips," Claire said.
"There's no party without corn chips," Tess replied.
"Well, then it's good I forgot the dip too." They laughed as Charlotte was watching them quietly.
"Claire…" Tess began. Claire looked up at her sister with her eyes on the road as well. When you were driving you had to have eyes all over your head. "… there's our brumby friend again."
Claire looked sideways and saw the white stallion. "Well, you're not going to die. It's just a story."
Tess sighed. "Maybe you are right."
They followed the way home. Claire was talking about Alex, she was so happy he finally would move in. Finally they got together. "So, what's the story between you and Nick?" Claire looked at her sister while she got the groceries out of the back of the ute. "What about me and Nick?"
"Oh come on Tess, just get a move on. Don't waste your time. Everyone knows Nick and you should be together." As if Tess didn't knew that. Everyone had talked to her about the same as Claire now did. "Just leave it," Tess said a little grumpy. Claire shrugged her shoulders and carried the bag with groceries to the party table. "I didn't got chips, and I forgot the dip too." The put the bag on the table and started unloading.
"There's my favorite woman!" Alex walked towards Claire and planted a kiss on her forehead.
"I was in town for a few hours, did you miss me that much?" Alex nodded and smiled.
"I have a surprise for you." Claire looked surprised and Alex puts his hands in his pocket. "Shit where is it?" Claire looked from his hand in his pocket to his face. "Where is what?"
Claire was all happy and in for a present. "Come with me." He took her hand and made a gesture everyone should follow him upstairs, to their bedroom. Their bedroom… He always hoped it would be. The whole gang was following, not knowing what was about to happen. Alex lost the ring earlier that day, but Nick found it in the car in the glove compartment. Alex placed the little box on their bed and opened it so everyone could see what the plan was. "Where are we going?" Claire asked. Alex didn't say a word and kept walking to their bedroom. When they where there, he opened the door, waiting for her to see what was on the pillow. Claire opened her mouth. "What.." she couldn't even finished her sentence, as Alex picked up the box, pulled out the ring and got on one knee. "Claire Louise McLeod, will you marry me?" He held up the ring, ready to slide in around Claire's finger. It was quiet for a moment. Claire couldn't believe what she saw. Then she nodded: "Yes, of course I will!" Alex put the ring around her finger and Claire flew around his neck.
