Nothing's Gonna Harm You
Emily's POV
I believe it was the sound of my bedroom door being slammed shut that jolted me awake. Ali was looking at me sympathetically; she had let her curly blonde hair out of the ponytail and now cascaded down her back. I looked over at the clock, 4:45 it read. What the hell was she doing up?
"Sorry, sweetie, I didn't mean to wake you." She said softly and I smiled at her tone.
"What are you doing up so late?" I said as I rubbed my tired eyes.
"Just…going to the bathroom." Ali hesitated. I looked a little more closely at her. Her lip was split at the bottom right corner. I immediately jumped from the bed and stood in front of her, examining her lip.
"Ali, what happened?" I asked.
"Nothing, Emily, just let it go." She tried to walk back towards the bed but I grabbed her arm and stopped her.
"I will not forget about it, I swear to god I will beat his ass, whoever the hell his is!"
Ali smirked, "I like seeing this side of you, Em. Your so protective of me."
"I'm your friend, that's what I'm supposed to do." It was a half lie. I felt so much more than Ali's friend. From the day I met Alison I was in love with her. She shared this side of her that none of the other girls got to see, the sweet side that was kind and compassionate. Something that no one who knew Ali thought she was capable of.
Alison's lips tugged into a smile that didn't meet her eyes. "Emily, you can't say anything to anyone about this, it will only make it worse."
"But Ali-"
"Please, Emily. Promise me." She practically begged. I could see tears forming in her eyes and her breathing was uneven. I guided her over to my bed and sat her down.
"I promise." She whispered a thank you and leaned her head on my shoulder. I closed my eyes, just sitting there with her. That was until I heard muffled sobs escape her throat. I looked over and there were tears falling down her cheeks. I wrapped my arms around her and ran my hand up and down her back. Ali buried her face in my neck and I could feel her lips against my neck that sent a shiver up my spine.
Alison pulled away and wiped the tears from her eyes. Her eyes were on the comforter; sadness filled those beautiful blue eyes.
"Do you love me, Em?" She said suddenly. I was caught off guard, debating whether or not to tell her the truth.
I took a deep breath and nodded. "I love you more than anything, Ali." I bite my lip, waiting for the rejection that never came. Instead Ali just smiled and looked me in the eye.
"Kiss me," She breathed. My eyes widened.
"W-what?" I stuttered.
She grabbed my shirt and pulled me into a kiss that sent fireworks off in my stomach. I sat there shocked for a second before melting into the kiss. Her hands moved from my shirt to my neck, tangling her fingers in my hair. I pulled her closer, our lips moving in perfect sync. Warmth spread through my body, burning my lips and causing an eruption in my stomach. She broke the kiss, much to my displeasure although I was in desperate need of air.
"I love you, Emily." And I knew it was true. I pressed my lips to hers for a short, but passionate kiss, pouring all the love I had bottled up inside for her.
"I love you too." She smiled and lay down on the bed, dragging me with her and resting her head on my shoulder. My hand stroked up and down her back until her fluttered shut and her breathing evened out.
