A/N: There just aren't enough stories about my favorite clique: the nerds. This must be fixed.

She stared down at the English test on her desk. 76. Rats. She would punish herself for this. She didn't think she could last much longer at this terrible school. Sometimes she would scratch herself until she bled.

It had been a rough month so far for Beatrice Trudeau. She hadn't gotten much sleep lately, having decided to study at night. She hadn't eaten much, either. But that was okay. Mandy never eats, and she's always fine.

On her way to her sanctuary-the library- she spotted Jimmy (HER Jimmy) kissing Mandy again. That brazen, chintzy little wench! She wanted to attack them both, but knew better. It wasn't their fault, it was hers. She burst into tears and ran through the library door, hugging her books to her chest. She sank into the nearest bench and took in shuddering breaths.

"Are you okay, Beatrice?"

The concerned voice made her jump slightly. What an absurd question, she thought. The determination should be axiomatic!

She looked up to see a pair of concerned eyes behind thick glasses. "I…I'm not certain, Bucky." She sniffed. He sat down next to her and awkwardly placed his arm over her shoulders. She cried into his sweater, soaking it with H20+NaCl. (Also known as tears, or human lacrimal fluid.)

He was startled by this, and uneasily patted her back. "Uh…Beatrice…?" he muttered. "What's going on? Did someone hurt you?"

Beatrice said nothing, but sniffed quietly, trying to swallow the globus pharyngis(the lump in her throat) with no success. She tightened her fists around the sleeves of her cardigan, concealing her forearms, which bore thin scratches up to the elbows.

"Was it that Hopkins jerk?" He shouted, standing up. "I'll tear him into atomic molecules!"

Beatrice sniffed and chuckled a little. "Everything is okay, Bucky." She said. "Please don't harm anyone. I've just been having a few troublesome weeks. Thanks for being here for me."

Bucky's eyes sparked. Here was his chance to say something romantic!

"I'll always be here for you, Beatrice."

Ugh, what an obtuse thing to say.

Beatrice smiled. "You're such a great friend." She choked as she pulled him into a hug.

Over her shoulder, Bucky grimaced. He didn't want to be a great friend.
