Ironic...I'm a HUGE SonAmy fan, most of my favorite STH stories on this site are about SonAmy, and first story I submit for STH is the opposite of SonAmy.
Anyways, I actually think I should have held off of posting this for a few days to make sure I can re-proof read it a few times and comb out all the fleas and it feels kinda rushed to me, but what can I say? I'm impatient...

Sonic knocked on Amy's door, waited for her to open it. She did within a few seconds, a dreamy look appearing on her face once she saw who it was. "Amy." He said hurriedly, before she could say anything. "I need...I need to talk to ya..."
"S-sure! Come on in!" She opened the door wider and stood aside to let her crush inside. Was he going to finally confess that he loved her? He stepped in, rubbed his neck in a nervous gesture. This wasn't going to be a pleasant visit.
"Go ahead and sit down," Amy said cheerfully. "I'll go get you some cookies or something."

"No, no, thank you...uh, this won't take long." I just hope you won't hate me after this...

"A-arlight..." What is he planning?

Sonic shifted his weight from one leg too the other. "Amy, you've been chasing after me since you were eight years old."
Amy's heart began to race, ready to hang on every word. Sonic continued. "You're fifteen now. I'm nearly eighteen."
Amy's heart beat even faster.
"I...uh...I'm not good with words, but you're a great friend...and that's why this is so hard to have to tell you..." Sonic shifted his weight again. "Amy, don't dedicate your life to waiting for me. I don't want you to be disappointed."

"I could never be disappointed with you, Sonic! I-"

"Amy..." Sonic stopped, searched for the right words. There was no way to put this without hurting her, was there? "I think you're a very strong and able girl, I really do, and I am glad to have a friend like you who cares about me so deeply. But" he looked down. "please understand me when I say...I don't 'like' you...not...not like 'that'..." Dang! That didn't end up sounding the way he had intended...he looked up, dreading what he might see. Amy's head was down and she was shaking. Oh no...
"Please don't be mad, Amy...I've been meaning to tell ya for a while...I just don't want you to spend your entire life waiting on me. I don't want you to be hurt like that."
She looked up, and, his ears down, he gathered up the courage to look her in the face. Her expression showed some amount of anger, but mostly she just appeared devastated. She had dedicated practically everything in her life to this one goal of her's. Better to cry now than later...
"And this doesn't hurt?" She finally said, voice shaking.

"...I've been meaning to tell you this for a while...I knew this wasn't going to be pleasant...for either of us. I'm...I'm sorry I had to break it to ya..."

"Go away." She said sharply, the anger more obvious now. " Please just go away."

He backed away. "Don't take all this wrong, Amy...please. I'm...I'm willing to be there when you need a friend, promise." He turned, looked back."I'm just not the kind of guy interested in a romantic relationship...with anyone." With that, he left.

A couple minutes after the door closed and she was sure he had run far off by now, Amy called up on of her hammer and hurled it at the door. It made a loud, satisfying CRASH!, left a huge dent. She sunk down on the couch and just cried. Once the anger began to wear off, little by little, she began to realize that Sonic had done this out of concern and love...the kind of love between friends. Perhaps one day he would change his mind, and she still hoped he would. But he was right...she shouldn't make that the only thing she lived for.
