***This takes place in Season 7 "I'd Rather Be in Philadelphia." Lorelai finally gets a moment alone with Richard.***

[Lorelai looked at her sleeping father. She was ordered to watch him while Emily and Rory went down to the cafeteria for something to eat. Lorelai figured that this would be a good time to talk to her dad.]

"Hi Dad. It's me, Lorelai. I'm just gonna sit here with you for awhile until Mom and Rory come back. Ok, so just relax. I'm here."

[Richard stayed asleep. Lorelai looked at this man in awe. He was a man who she always tried to appreciate and be appreciated by. Most times, she was unsuccessful. But, every once in a while, she could feel a certain sense of pride in him. Gently, she put her hand on top of his, and slid her other hand underneath, so that their palms touched. She felt tears cloud her vision, and began to speak.]

"Daddy, I know the doctors said that you were going to be okay, but I just have to say that I was so scared before. I didn't want to lose you. I was so scared for you, Daddy. And I'm still scared now, 'cause I don't like seeing you this way."

[Richard felt himself begin to wake up at the sound of his daughter's tearful voice and the feeling of both her hands around his. However, he kept his eyes closed.]

"Daddy, I know I've disappointed you a lot in the past, and I know that no matter how many times I apologize, it's not going to change anything. But, I am so so sorry Dad, for all the hurt and pain that I ever caused you. I never ever wanted to hurt you like that. I've always looked up to you, and you've always inspired me to achieve the best at everything."

[Lorelai felt the warm tears cascade down her cheeks and the sobs building in her throat. She had to continue though.]

"I know it hasn't seemed like it for a very long time, and God knows I haven't said this enough, but… I-I love you so much, Daddy."

[With that, Lorelai laid her head on her father's hand, which she still held, and cried a torrent of tears for him.]

[Richard had heard everything Lorelai said, and opened his eyes when he felt her rest her heavy head on top of his hand.]

"Lorelai…"

[Lorelai sat up at the sound of her father's voice - his weak, quiet voice. She looked at him longingly.]

"Dad?"

"I love you too, more than you could ever know."

"Oh Daddy…"

[She wrapped her arms around him gently, careful not to hurt him in his weak state. When she felt his arms close around her, she sobbed into his understanding shoulder. This moment is what they had both wanted for so long, and now that that moment was finally here, they wanted to cherish it forever.]
