A/N DISCLAIMER: I do not own the forgetful Gilderoy Lockhart, or the song lyrics thrown throughout the story. Mr. Gilderoy Lockhart belongs to the amazing J.K Rowling, and the lyrics belong to Linkin Park, part of the song Waiting For the End.
This was written for Top 100 Challenge by evangeline adara rose.
This takes place with him in Saint Mungo's.
Gilderoy Lockhart was confused. He knew this isn't the end but it's not the beginning.
He sat on his nice white bed in his room. He didn't know how he got here or any aspect of his life, but hey, that's typical right? He wasn't crazy.
'Gilderoy, how are you feeling today? Have you remembered anything important?' The nice woman asked as she entered his room. Though the words sound steady, something empty's within 'em
'Oh, I'm just pleasant thank you, and no I have not. I have nothing to remember, for I haven't forgotten anything.' He said with a smile and the nurse turned around and left. Nurse?
Was she a nurse? He didn't know why he had that thought she was a nurse.
'Say goodbye. To your memories..OBLIVIATE!'
What was that thought? No, he can't forget...forget what? He felt like he had to remember what that was, as if it was so important. But how can he remember something he forgot just as fast as it came. With fists flying up in the air, like we're holding onto something that's invisible there.
'Oh well' he said to himself as he let out a soft sigh. Forget it, let it all disappear.
Disappear? Memories...chamber...snake...wand...obliviate...magic! He remembered!
He was Gilderoy Lockhart; Order of Merlin, Third Class; Honorary Member of the Dark Force Defense League; and five-time winner of Witch Weekly's Most Charming Smile Award.
Now he remembers that night.
'This is not what I had planned. It's out of my control...'
'Flying at the speed of were spinning in my head. So many things were left unsaid. I can't forget everything now...' He remembered thinking in the chamber.
'Now I know what it takes to move on, I know how it feels to lie. Those poor people that had their memories erased before me, at my hand. What have I become? Why did I let my foolishness get to me like it did?'
'All I wanna do is trade this life for something new.'
I don't want to live like this anymore.
'Holding on to what I haven't got. My sanity. My memories.'
What did I gain from all that fame?
'What was left when that fire was gone?'
Erasing those peoples' memories.
'I thought it felt right but that right was wrong.'
Before he knew it he was all caught up in the eye of the storm.
Even though he had no idea what he was moving on from, but still trying to figure out what it's like moving on.
As he claimed all the glory,
'I don't even know what kind of things I've said. My mouth kept moving and my mind went dead.'
But now, for some miraculous reason, he regained his memories back.
'So, picking up the pieces, now where to begin?'
Now...
'All I wanna do is trade this life for something new. Holding on to what i haven't got...'
This is not the end. It can't be. I will get back out there with my memories...
Out there. Out where?
Is there any other place for him?
"Of course there is" He said to himself. 'Though the words sound steady something empty's within 'em.'
"That place is here. Why would I go anywhere else?" I think to myself. With fists flying up in the air
like we're holding onto something that's invisible there.
"I have a growing feeling..." Cuz we're living at the mercy of the pain and the fear until we dead it.
"That I'm forgetting something.." Forget it.
Let it all disappear
He sat on his nice white bed in his room. He didn't know how he got here or any aspect of his life, but hey, that's typical right?
But afterall,
Gilderoy Lockhart was confused.
