The Cavern Below
There lies below us a cavern that swallows orange lakes
Drives spikes through their bottoms in an effort to kill
But those lakes won't die, only wear down the rock
The cavern below us is drowning in a lake.
There lies below us a cavern that shines with pumpkin light
Not enough to lighten it all, but enough even so
To give this space such rock-hard looks
The cavern below us is lighting up us all.
There lies below us a cavern that shelters all within
The work of many millennium of those gone before
The knowledge of a once great race stored herein
The cavern below us has been long deserted.
There lies below us a cavern that once ruled a billion
Destroyed by the greed of one terrible man
That now lies in ruins, never to be great again
The cavern below us is no longer needed.
