Couldn't be Happier
Standing next to Renesmee was when Jacob realized who wouldn't want all this attention, and who he would be much happier with.
Leah would have wanted to keep an engagement quiet, but Renesmee had chosen to have a huge party and she was basking in the attention she was getting, grinning at her "adoring fans."
Jacob would have rather been with Leah, running in the woods with her, talking with her about anything.
But Leah hadn't been seen in a year and a half, and Jacob was with Renesmee, who kept claiming that she "couldn't be happier."
And for Renesmee, Jacob pretended he "couldn't be happier," also.
But standing next to Renesmee, with this fairy tale ending, wasn't what made him feel like he "couldn't be happier."
The only thing that would have made him happy would have been to see Leah again.
