Hoji was going insane.
That was the only explanation. Any other time, if Ban had asked him to spend his off hours with him, at a public pool of all things, Hoji would have done the sensible thing and given him a definite refusal. But today he must have been off or not thinking straight of had finally snapped, because he'd said yes without thinking... and after that, Ban wouldn't take no for an answer.
And now here he was, waist deep in pool water, surrounded by mothers and children, trying to find a way of this-- of course he could find a way out of this. He was a Deka, a Pro, he--
"Partner, watch me do a cannon ball!" Dressed in nothing but a pair of very revealing red trunks, Ban splashed into the pool, to the delight of the children and the dismay of the mothers.
