Twin Of A God

Criminals are dying, and those that hide behind computer screens praise the one causing it, the one they call KIRA. They don't see criminals as normal people just like them. Akio will show them they are not so different, he is Light's twin brother after all.

December 5, 2003

It was a peaceful day in the Kanto region of Japan, people shopping, hanging out with friends, chatting happily on their cell phones. Christmas decorations and sale signs in every store window trying to attract the holiday shoppers, as the jumbo screens all showed the news, reporting on the resent deaths of criminals soberly among all the cheer.

Sitting in a small café, near the windows watching the people go about their lives was a handsome young man alone at a table, seeming to be reading a black covered book. He looked no older than 17; with short ruffled auburn hair, dark ember colored eyes that gazed at the words on the page, and pail flawless skin with a healthy tinge of pink. He wore a light brown shirt with the sleeved rolled up over his elbows, exposing a black watch on his right wrist, a white tank top that hugged his torso, showing off his slender body; black pants hung low around his waist with just a black and sliver studded belt holding them up, and simple white sneakers on his feet.

He ignored the many females were glancing or staring in his direction as he closed the book after slipping a white ribbon inside the book to mark his place just as a waitress came and set down his order.

"A slice of Strawberry Cheese Cake and Honey Tea. Is that gonna be all for you today Akio-kun~?" A cute young woman dressed in a blue maid uniform smiled at him as she set down the place of cake and tea cup before him.

The young man, Akio, gave her a sincere smile that made her blush as he looked at her. "Thank you, Flay-chan. Yes, that's all. I still have some shopping to do before Christmas." He commented and picked up the delicate white cup; bringing it up to his slips for a careful sip and then letting out a relaxed sigh.

"Mmm~ Perfect. Keep the change." Akio said as he pulled out a rather large Yen note from his shirt pocket and handed it to the stunned waitress who carefully took it from between his fingers and sadly walked away. Soon his attention turned to one of the large screens outside as it changed form it normal colorful advertisements to a worldwide broad cast from the International Police Cooperation Organization, or the IPCO. Akio raised an eye brow as a man appeared after the broadcast announcement.

A man had semi long black hair, dark eyes and pale skin came on wearing a blue suit sitting behind a desk appeared on the screen, the IPCO insignia behind him. The man looked unquestionably like an officer but what kept Akio's attention was the physical name card on the desk, the man's name spelled out in English letters.

"I am the head of an international police task force made up of nations who try and bring Law, Justice and Order for the entire world. I am Lind L. Tailor, otherwise known as the great detective L." The man spoke in clear Japanese, the man's lips matching the sounds which made Akio raise an eyebrow at as he set do his tea cup. Other people also stopped to watch what was happing, none having ever heard of L before now. Akio noticed the look in the man's eyes before he closed them, the man looked terrified as he made his declaration. A short pause followed as many watched when Mr. Tailor, L, opened his eyes and carried on with his announcement.

"It has come to our attention that criminals from around the world are being murdered by a serial killer that has been dubed, KIRA. I must say this has to be the most atrocious act of murder in history." The man said, making Akio chuckle lowly with a shake of his head at the man's words. "Someone obviously fail history." He mused, picking up the sliver fork and stabbing his cake as the announcement continued; only half listing to it while others gave it their undivided attention.

"I will not rest until the person or persons responsible for this have been caught and brought to justice. Kira, I will hunt you down and I will find you. I have a pretty good idea as to what your motivation might be and I know what you're trying to achieve." L continued, as Akio took the fork and cake into his mount, eyes closed savoring the taste dancing across his tongue with a small smile on his lips.

"However, what you're doing right now is not true justice; it's out right evil!" L nearly yelled out, making Akio's eyes snapped open as he watched the screen, suddenly interested in the broadcast again. Some people whispered quietly around him, about this L and Kira, others watched with baited breath for more information or for something to happen as there seemed to be a minute long pause before...

"Agh! Ygh!"

L held clawed at his chest as suddenly in pain as his back arched, as he gasped for air with his mouth open in a soundless scream. Then the man flopped forward onto the desk, knocking the name card off the desk, dead. There was nothing but shocked silence form the screen and from the mass of people watching. Akio slowly turned back to his tea and took a sip as he muttered something quietly to himself.

"Hook, line, and sinker."

Two men in black suits and sunglasses appeared on screen briefly and picked up the dead man's body, moving it off screen just before a gothic looking black L appeared on the white background.

"Kira."

A distorted voice came from the speakers, sounding a bit cartoonish to Akio's ears as he softly chuckled, a smirk on his face. "What a child, falling into that obvious trap." He mused, half tuning out the real L's discovery of Kira needing only a name and face to kill his victims as he finished his tea and cake.

A.N. Revised to be a bit more intresing as I try to pick this back up.
