Matthew stared disapprovingly at large cheeseburger sitting on his tray."Come on, bro. It's delicious! Just try it!" Alfred coaxed his little brother to try just one bite of his favorite meal. Matthew didn't look the pleased in the least bit. The two brothers hardly spent any time together, so when Alfred asked his little brother out to eat, Matthew complied wholeheartedly, feeling the need to reunite with his continent-mate. Little did he know that Alfred was very headstrong when it came to choosing restaurants. He had his favorites, and everything else was not "hero-worthy". So of course, it was no surprise that they ended up eating at McDonald's.

Matthew squished up his nose and poked at the sandwich. "It just looks so... sad." He lowered his face down to tabletop-level and frowned at it. "I don't think I can eat it, Alfred."

"BAHAHAHAHA! You're thinking about it too much, bro! Cheeseburgers don't have feelings!" Alfred was laughing so hard that he nearly spat out his milkshake.

Very gingerly, Matthew picked up his cheeseburger and looked at it from every angle. Well, it does smell good, he thought to himself as he slowly brought it closer to his mouth. Alfred was eyeballing him with his mouth open, waiting.

Matthew closed his eyes and, very slowly, took a small nibble out of the sandwich. Chewing with his eyes squinted, he started to realize that it wasn't as horrible as he thought it'd be. He actually sort of enjoyed it! He took another, larger, bite. It was delicious!

Alfred looked pleased with himself. "I told you, bro! I knew you'd like it if you tried it!"

"Well, it's nothing like poutine or pancakes." Matthew took another bite, and after chewing for a bit, swallowed with a smile on his face. "But I like your American food!"

The two brothers ate and had a nice chat, and Matthew ended up eating his whole burger, two orders of fries, and a large vanilla milkshake. As they left the golden arches stuffed to the brim with fast-food goodness, Alfred promised that the next time they had a get-together Matthew could chose the restaurant.

"I know exactly where I want to take you," said Matthew with a huge grin on his face.

The next week, at the exact same time, there they sat inside of the IHOP, Matthew's plate piled high with pancakes, and Alfred looking at the one on his plate skeptically.

Matthew commented, with a bit of a mocking tone, "Come on, bro. It's delicious. Just try it!"
