Roderich's hand shakes lightly as he finishes his letter to Antonio. Less than a year has gone by, yet the personification of Austria misses his husband terribly.
"I always have been sentimental," the Germanic nation muses, standing from his writing desk, letter in hand.
Dear Antonio,
I hope you are well in the New World. Not much has happened here, though Feliciano and Lovino seem to miss you terribly.
They're not the only ones. I find myself missing the warmth of your body in our bed, the sound of your guitar in the garden, the sight of your breathtaking smile, I even miss the scent of you.
Enough about me, what is the New World like?
With love,
Roderich.
Antonio smiles as he finishes reading his husband's letter. The small personification of the previously conquered island Haiti is sitting on his lap.
"What it say?" She asks in broken Spanish, learned from the humans who reached her island nearly forty years ago.
"It is from my partner back home, who tells me that they and our other children miss me," Antonio answers, careful not to reveal Austria's gender in case a human can hear him. "Once we have found all of the other colonies, we will return home and you can meet them! Why don't you find the other's so I can write a letter back ¿sí?"
" ¡Sí! " Haiti agrees, allowing Spain to lower her to the ground before she runs off. Antonio picks up the quill and begins to write.
Dearest Rodrigo,
I miss you and our darling Italies as well! Please, give them my love!
Not a day goes by that I don't think about you, mi corazon. My dreams are filled with the sounds of your piano symphonies, and your gentle laughter. If I close my eyes long enough, I can see one of your rare smiles and feel your soft lips against mine.
As for the New World, it is beautiful! The forests are abundant and the land is untouched by modern man! I feel as though the humans will and already have begun to taint this paradise, but what they do is not my concern. I only wish to find the colonies and take my leave.
Speaking of, I have already found a few! Cuba is a headstrong little boy, around the age of our Italies! Dominican and Haiti are shy girls, just the opposite of their brother, and unlike him has clung to me since we met. Jamaica, she has a strong fighting spirit and is very protective of Puerto Rico, the only infant I've found so far. Ay! He is so small and adorable! Jamaica and Cuba don't trust me, but Haiti and Dominican seem to like me very well! From what Haiti and Jamaica say, there are more nearby on the mainland. Perhaps in my next letter I will be able to tell you about them.
Te amo,
Antonio
Satisfied, Antonio allows the ink to dry before folding up the letter and dealing with a deal containing the symbol for the House of Hapsburg.
A/N: Please keep in mind:
Spain is kind of (very) manipulative towards the Latin Americas, wanting them to trust him despite what his people are doing to their predecessors' people. If they don't know about it, he keeps it from them. If they do, he convinces them that it must be done. This is going to work well with the South Americas more than the Central because of the Inca empire in the South and all of the conquesting and such that happened down there. They're also very young, and grow to represent Spain's people in their land, so they'll have an innate sort of pull or naive trust regarding him (like America does for England at first). Spain, like England, takes advantage of this.
