Prince Soma sat alone in his room, pondering what Ciel Phantomhive's butler had said to him. No one had ever spoken to him like that before, and the willful prince felt both frightened and oddly exhilarated by the experience. Even little Ciel had put him in his place. So for the first time in his life, he was going to attempt to rely on no one but himself. Independence turned out to be just as lonely as dependence had been. Falling back into his old habits, the prince went in search of Ciel. Soma felt needy and desperate for his attention, good or bad.

He wandered the halls of the mansion, all the while wondering if he could make it on his own. Soma sighed. All those thoughts did was remind him how much he missed Agni and Mina, and needed them. He had to figure this out by himself if he was ever going to win them back. Unfortunately, doing for himself was proving to be mentally exhausting, but that did not stop the prince from trying. Calling up every ounce of willfulness and obsitnateness, he was determined to be a better person, one who was self-reliant and independent. Smiling to himself, he knew exactly what he had to do to take that first step in his new life. He would begin with an apology, a simple begging for Ciel's forgiveness. From there, he would see where things took him. It was scary, but Soma was beginning to feel confident he could do it. And that was how he found himself taking one step forward and two back, while he sat with Ciel and the others as they tried figuring out how to not only secure some sort of warrant, but a way for him to find Agni again…
