It wasn't that Sasuke didn't care

It wasn't that Sasuke didn't care.

It was he couldn't care.

With all the risks in revenge, how could he grow close to Sakura, become best friends with Naruto?

All he would do is hurt them.

So, he had made it a rule not to grow close to them.

Unfortunately, somewhere between the missions and meals, kunai and curses, he forgot his own rule. He grew close to both of them.

Somehow that annoying blond ninja and that annoying (in a good way, however that made sense) pink-haired kunoichi managed to worm their ways into his heart, refusing to be taken out.

And, so, he hurt them.

He left the village, all the while trying desperately to ignore the tug on his heart, as the connection, the tie between him and his oneandonlytruetotheend friends was snapped, and neatly discarded.

Sometimes, while he trained under Orochimaru, he wondered how he got so cold, so heartless.

He always figured it was because a piece of him, no, two vital pieces of him were gone.

That always made the most sense to him.
