Hi to everyone whose stumbled on my fan fiction. I'm sure that was a mistake HaHa. Anyway I love reading fanfiction but only just got the uts to write one. Hopefully this will be quite long and for background sakes Brian is 26 and Justin 20. This is an AU but hopefully the characters aren't to OOC and Justin and Brian have not met before.
SUMMARY; When Ethan Gold is found dead in his apartment suspicion falls too his scorned and abused ex-lover. Detective Brian Kinney cannot fathom how such a sweet innocent man could do such a thing so he sets out to prove him innocent. Is he prepared for the good , the bad and the down right ugly?
Warnings; Rated M for grphic content, questionable language and hopefully some sexy times if I can get the nerve to write it. This is a male/male story.
A/N I only own the plot line. I'm not a police officer or doctor ETC ETC so some things may be slightly inaccurate I apologize in advance
Prologue
Brian's POV
I thought today would be like any other day in my job as a detective at the Pittsburgh Police Station. But that was before we got the call. An anonymous tip off from a little old lady, aren't they all? This women swore down she heard gunshots coming from the apartment below, which considering the part of the neighbourhood he and other cops worked in he wasn't all that uncommon. The inhabitants of liberty avenue were often the targets of hate crime being that it was an American Gay district. I should know after I finish work its where I go to, to forget the horrors of what I see sometimes in my line of work. I thank gay lord everyday for the Don't ask, Don't tell policy that was in place when I joined the force.
Anyway back to the phone call, I decided to check it out myself instead of sending a couple of beat cops down to do it because it was at an address known to the force. In the last couple of months or so they had been a number complaints made of domestic violence at the aforementioned flat I had never been by personally but had been checking up on it to make sure the victim was at least as well as could be. Domestic cases always struck a nerve with me as I had lived with it all my childhood thanks to my bastard of a father and god fearing mother. Of course if it wasn't for the things that put me through I might be an advertising scmuch somewhere instead of helping people who needed it Okay one of the reasons I really wanted to check it out was to see if it was a straight forward case, The perpetrator got a little too heavy with his partner. If that was the case I would show him the meaning of heavy handed, discreetly of course, beforee I gave him over to be charged and what not. But I also knew there was a flip side, the victim could of easily tuned on his so called lover after having enough of, if the case files were anything to go by, nearly daily beatings. But I had poured over the case files and nothing in them had suggested that Justin Taylor, the 'victim's' name would have been strong enough or even willing to turn it round on his boyfriend Ethan Gold. In the somewhat limited case file it seem Ian, Ethan whatever, had recently broken Justin's right wrist and a couple of rib bones so if he had even managed to pull the trigger the pain it caused wouldn't og allowed it to be pullled again without doing some serious damage and if he had he must have been in extreme peril to do so. And if that was the case I wanted to do what I could too help him.
When I had asked the numerous of cops why Justin hadn't been in witness protection and if it was so serious someone may have died why hadn't it been deal with properly, I had been mumbled at. A lot. And one particularly homophobe cop, Hobbs, had the audacity to comment that no one cared about a little queer. It took everything in me to hold back and not punch him to the ground. Wasn't Justin a human just like the rest of us. And to top it off he was... is the same age as Hobbs. Why did so little people not even have an ounce of compassion nowadays.
I will be sure to fully investigate later why several officershad failed to do they job properly in the first place when I discover what they may or may not be questionable for.
As I arrived at The apartment complex that had been reported to us I looked over at my partner for today, a seasoned professional Carl Horath who I knew after meeting and marrying My surrogate Ma Deb he had a very open mind. He was also the only one on the fore who knew of my preferences so I knew that I could trust him with my life. Well I say the only one but Mikey, Debs son also knew as he followed in my foot steps.
As we approached Ethan Golds door I looked over at Carl and asked;
" Have we got back up on standby?"
" Yes but by the look of things we'll need forensics out here."
I looked to see where he was pointing and saw blood on the door handle. What was strange though was that was the only place none on the wall or anywhere surrounding the carpet. Then I looked down and saw the reason for the lack of blood. Two lifeless eyes staring up at me.
