AN-Had the idea for this one for a long time and wanted to do it for Father's Day. I guess I'll dedicate this to my Grandpa, even though he'll never read it. He's the only one who I'm recognizing for the day, as my dad is being a complete jerk! Okay, enough of my personal life. On with the story.
Disclaimer-I've done some research and found it would cost more than a fortune to buy the rights to Harry Potter, so I have no hope of ever owning it. It belongs to J.K. Rowling.
"I'm going for a shower. Can you feed Harry his breakfast, James?" Lily looked at James expectantly as she sat the toddler in his highchair. James shook his head vigorously, remembering the last time he fed Harry.
"No way, he's evil." Harry gurgled up at him, trying to look cute.
"For heaven's sake! He's just a baby." Lily pushed the bowl of baby food, mashed bananas and apples, into James' hands and left before he could protest any further.
Five minutes later, James heard the running shower and knew he was on his own. He pulled a chair up to the high chair and warily eyed the child innocently staring at him, grinning as he watched his father.
"Okay, little man, let's try this again." James said, carefully measuring a spoonful of the mush and inserted into the boys awaiting mouth. "See, not so bad. You're being such a good boy!"
That's when things went downhill. Harry scrunched up his face in disgust and spit out the food, sending it dribbling down his chubby chin. James sighed and used the bib to wipe the mess. He got another spoonful and tried to feed it to Harry, who turned his face away.
"Come on, Harry, be a good boy and eat for daddy." Harry shook his head in protest. James tried everything he saw Lily do: making funny faces; the "flying-machine" noises; the train going in the tunnel technique, nothing worked! James even tried to show that the food tasted good by taking a bite himself, only to gag at the taste. Then Harry reached for the spoon. "Oh, you want to feed yourself, little man?"
Harry took the spoon with a delighted squeal. But instead of eating it, he flung the food into James' hair.
"Harry!" The baby in question giggled, slapping his hands down on the highchairs table top. Harry accidently hit the bowl of food, sending it flying towards James and landing all over his face and clothes.
"What on Earth happened here?" James turned to see Lily standing in the door, clad in only a towel, surveying the scene, half in anger and half in mild amusement. "How did you manage to make this mess in fifteen minutes?"
"Hey, he's your son." James said, flicking his wand and casting a cleaning charm on the both of them. This apparently wasn't the right thing to say.
"Oh, so when he's nice and cute and well behaved, he's ours. But when he's like you, he's mine!"
"Yep." James replied with a small grin.
"There are times I wonder about the Sorting Hat's judgment." Lily said, scooping up Harry who was watching his parent's argument attentively. She counted down the seconds before James processed her insult.
"Hey!"
AN-Very short, yes I know. I thought it was rather cute! Happy Father's Day everyone! Please review!
