The Look

Her cool green eyes are burning,
Lit by secret fires,
Filled with endless yearning,
Unquenchable desire.
I stare into his hungry eyes,
Those windows to his soul,
And slowly come to realise
That he is not yet whole.
She returns my longing gaze
With passion of her own;
She brings an end to endless days
Of wandering alone.
What has made my strong one weak?
What has torn his heart?
I know the words I have to speak,
But don't know where to start.
How I wish to tell her of
The pain I feel inside!
But I fear I'll lose her love;
This darkness I must hide.
I wish that he would tell me
What it is he wants to say;
However painful it may be,
By his side I'll stay.
And so we come together
Underneath the setting sun,
Heart to heart and eye to eye,
Two souls becoming one.
