The Hogwarts Express

Unsure where to go, the young red-headed girl walked through the crowded hallway of the moving train. Was she the only one who didn't know anyone yet? It seemed like everything was filled with busy chats about the past holidays, the newest rumors and gossip and reunions of friends that hadn't seen each other during the past summer. Where were all the other first years? She couldn't be the only one, after all!

The confusion of the girl seemed to slightly turn into desperation – the whole story of her being a witch and going to Hogwarts, the legendary school for witchcraft and wizardry, had been so exciting, that she completely forgot about the fact, that she knew nobody here.
What if the others wouldn't like her or even exclude her? What if they would laugh at her with her limited knowledge about magic – even though she had read every book she could get about it.

The girl took a deep breath. 'Calm down. Everything will be fine.'With all the self-confidence she could gather, she decided to simply go to sit on the next free seat she would find. As she opened the door of the next best compartment, four pairs of eyes were looking at her. She looked around and found a girl on her right and two boys on the left.

Before she could say something the brown-haired, rather tall girl with big brown eyes, who had been sitting on the window, jumped up with an unnaturally huge smile all over her face. "Hey! You are a first year, too, no? I can tell that you're a first year! Come on, sit with us – oh, by the way, I am Nina, and who are you?" The girl named Nina was talking so fast that it was almost impossible to follow her quickly enough, which lead to a little pause before she could answer "Eh.. – hi, I am Lily, nice to meet you!"

"Not sure about your name?" The boy in the right corner of the compartment chuckled. He was leaning against the window and his black hair was falling over his dark eyes. "Pardon?" Something about that cocky smile was so provocative, that Lily directly started to be enraged.
"Ha, good one Sirius! I'm starting to like you, really, why did we just meet by now?" The other boy had black hair, too, but according to his tanned skin he had been outside a little more and his eyes had a warm hazel tone. The boy named Sirius simply shrugged and turned back to look out of the window, still wearing this incredibly annoying smile on his face.

"Oh- just don't care about them, they've already been acting like this before you arrived."
Even though Lily was not sure if she really wanted to stay with those boys, she sat next to Nina. At least there was one person that seemed to be nice and she really needed to find some company.

As soon as Lily was sitting she noticed the hazel eyes of the boy in front of her on her. "Did I introduce myself already? I am James, it's a pleasure to meet you, pretty Lils" The smirk on his face didn't seem less cocky than the one from that Sirius guys, and it was just as annoying.
"Don't you dare calling me Lils, it's just Lilyfor you, got it?" James stopped looking at Lily, but the smirk stayed on his face as he started playing with a snitch he got out of the pocket of his black coat.

Lily sighed. If all the boys at Hogwarts were like those two she just met, this would become a really hard year.
