Birthday Wishes

They always say that a girl wants diamond rings and shiny things for her birthday. Not me, I just wanted something simple, a small romantic dinner with my two favorite boys, but instead I got a full day of work at the hospital and the graveyard shift. Okay, maybe those diamonds don't sound so bad right now. My head spun as I went from room to room; I had already mixed up three patients and almost given one of them the wrong medicine. When one of my coworkers saw me struggling, they forced me on break. I gladly obliged, taking a seat behind the desk in the front office I wondered what my boys were up to. I remembered them leaving early in the morning, something about some training…? Or maybe a mission, I couldn't remember, I was just too exhausted. I could barely remember my name at this point. By the end of the night my legs were shaking from overexertion and I could barely walk, with no one home to pick me up I had no other choice but to drag myself through the streets.

Konaha had always been such a beautiful village but at night it was downright creepy. The dark shadows of the buildings and stands replaced the lively people as well as the eerie sounds of the village settling put me on guard. I just simply preferred the earlier hours when the streets were filled with people and children bustling around for the best deals. Our house was located towards the middle of the village, far from any of our old ones. When we made the decision to live together, we decided to pool our funds and buy a new place. Naruto was ecstatic, and Sasuke and I were happy to not have to go back to that dump of his anymore. The weeks spent looking for a place was another challenge, since finding a nice home in a small village was not easy. We ended up with a two bedroom that resulted in conflict. I basically had to wrestle the room away from Sasuke claiming to him that I have 'girl needs' but Sasuke refused to share a room with the 'Dobe' as he calls him.

So he tried to move in with me, which resulted in Naruto complaining. I solved the situation by saying we should just share the rooms, the same concept as what they did with me. They were such a handful sometimes. Climbing the stairs was a challenge; I was too scared to jump with the condition my legs were in. When I got to the top the house it was so quiet that I had let out a sigh, no one was home. I was slightly disappointed. Opening the door the light shot on and a banner with happy birthday was displayed with balloons and confetti.

"Happy birthday Sakura-chan!" Naruto yelled as he jumped on top of me.

I fell backwards as he hugged me, giggling.

"What's all this?" I asked looking at them both.

"Well we knew you were working late today and we decided to surprise you since it's your birthday and all. It is your birthday right? We didn't get it wrong this time did we?"

I giggled and smiled. "No, you got it right."

"Great." He said as he helped pulling me up to my feet.

It was Sasuke's turn to talk. Coming over to me, he grabbed my hand and led me to the couch knowing I must be tired.

"Happy birthday." He said in his usual tone.

I smiled. "Thank you." I gave him a kiss on the cheek.

"That's not fair why does Teme get a kiss and not me!" Naruto whined as he came over towards Sasuke and me.

I rolled my eyes and gave him a kiss. "Anyway, we bought you some gifts! Come take a look!" He said.

Leading me to the pile of gifts, I felt satisfied. I may not have diamond rings and shiny things but I have my two boys and I think that's all that matters in the end.
