Not So Happy Ending- The Second Daughter side story
Rainbow Haired Girl
Summary: Requested by Jinxy13. Everyone lives from the Battle of the Five Armies. But not everything is happy.
Disclaimer: I do not own the Hobbit, but I do own Aranduriel.
Authoress Note: I know that it took me a little bit to get this up and I do apologize. I wanted to make sure that I had chapter 20 up first before I wrote this. I have been bouncing around on stories because I can't keep my mind in focus. So this is what I came up with. I don't regret nothing.
Not So Happy Ending
The war was over. The Lonely Mountain was reclaimed. Thorin was king under the mountain like he should've been. He actually allowed an alliance between elves and men to win this war so the mountain would remain safe. Fili and Kili were now 100% princes now the way that they should have been.
Aranduriel stood with her father and brothers. Her shoulder was heavily wrapped up because she had taken an arrow to the arm protecting Fili. Her eyes landed on the prince that she had fallen in love with. She wasn't sure of what was going to happen now.
Fili looked at her locking his eyes with hers. He saw the look in her eyes. He could tell that she felt very much out of place standing right there. After all she was standing with her brothers and father.
Aranduriel's eyes landed upon the necklace that she had given to him. She had given up her immortal life to be with him, but she wasn't sure if her father would allow her to do such a thing.
"We thank you for the aid that you have given to us." Thorin said proudly. He wasn't one to actually admit this, but without the elves and men he was pretty sure that they wouldn't have made it through the night.
Lord Elrond bowed his head along with his two sons.
Thorin's eyes landed upon Aranduriel. She stood there like a proud elleth. Like she should be. She risked everything to keep his nephews alive and that made his heart swell. He knew that Aranduriel was in love with Fili, but he wasn't certain that her father would be allowing his daughter to marry a dwarf and die of old age. "Thank you Lady Aranduriel."
Aranduriel bowed her head. She knew that she had done a job well done. She just hoped that Fili would ask her to stay. She wanted to be with him. But was it even possible? She looked at her father and saw the look that he had in his eyes. He wanted her to come home. Perhaps she goes home and Fili would come to her. She could only hope. "You are welcome King Thorin." She said turning her attention to Thorin.
Lord Elrond moved forward. "We will be taking our leave King Thorin." He told Thorin.
"I wish you the best of luck on your journey home."
Aranduriel looked at her father then back to Fili. She saw the hope dying down in his eyes. Her eyes told him that she would return. She knew that she couldn't stay in the mountain. Not until it was restored. Aranduriel turned with her family. She felt tears come to her eyes. This was going to be the hardest thing that she could do to Fili and herself. She walked out of the throne room.
Lord Elrond looked at his daughter. He saw that she was beginning to fade. "Aranduriel…"
Aranduriel looked at her father. "I will wait for the Mountain to be restored before I come back."
Lord Elrond knew that his daughter was right.
