"...You're a pretty brave man, Rivalz Cardemonde," Cornelia said to him one night, both of them lying naked in bed.
Sitting up, Rivalz looked at her incredulously. "Uh...what do you mean?"
"What I mean is," Cornelia explained, flipping over to face him, "Is that by being my lover, you're basically making the entire Britannian empire your enemy!!"
Rivalz's face fell, and his skin became a deathly pale. "W...W...What?!!" he stammered.
"It's like this," Cornelia continued, "My Knight, Gilbert, is obviously deeply infatuated with me, including most of the Glaston Knights. I know many other normal foot soldiers in the army who practically worship me, as well. Their envy could grow into hatred, but who knows. Plus, my father is the Emperor, which means that if he learns of our relationship, he will most likely have you put to death...he doesn't like alot of people, especially ones with your kind of personality, unfortunately..."
"I...I...I see..."
"Also, your friends are quite jealous of you, I've noticed. You're the only one of them with an actual girlfriend after all. We've even had sex already! Isn't that ironic, since they've all thought of you as a loser before?! Heh heh...you truly are a brave man, to risk so much for me like this...but that's one of the many reasons why I love you..."
Rivalz really wasn't sure what to say; all he could think about was possibly being executed in a most-likely violent fashion just for dating one of the Emperor's many daughters.
Noticing Rivalz's discomfort, Cornelia smiled, and leaned over to give her beloved boyfriend a kiss on the cheek. "Don't worry though, love," she assured him, "If anyone tries to hurt you, I'll protect you. So don't worry...I won't let you die..."
"O...Okay..." Rivalz nodded, although he still felt a bit half-hearted regarding Cornelia's words.
"Well...good night," Cornelia said, and then she buried herself under the covers, and instantly drifted off into a deep slumber.
"...Good night..." Rivalz mumbled with a slight smile...but in his mind, he was crying for his life.
