Silently tears fell. One after the other trickling down his cheeks and leaving moist paths in their wake. The full moon had come and gone, long since faded away to give room for the sun. And still he sat in the shack, crouched on his knees with his hands limp at his sides. He couldn't bring himself to touch him, couldn't bring himself to look away from that face no matter how much it hurt. James had closed his eyes, and Peter had righted his limbs before they went, but now it was just them. Sirius Black and Remus Lupin, two bodies and one beating heart.
"I love you." He whispered, the words dying in the air and falling to the ears of the boy on the floor.
"I love you so much, you can't leave me like this." He closed his eyes and crumbled forward, fingers closing desperately on the bare flesh of a naked torso. It was cold and stretched tight over prominent ribs, made sticky with drying blood. They had gone too far, hurt him too bad, and now he was gone. It was all his fault, he knew that much- he had sent the boy through the tunnel. He had provided the human flesh that let the wolf run haywire. It was supposed to have gone differently, it wasn't supposed to have ended like this. But now Remus was dead. They had fought him too harshly, tore too roughly, invaded the boy for all they were worth to save the life of a slimy git.
"I didn't mean for it to happen this way" he sobbed into the flesh, reaching into the pocket of his jeans and drawing out a small green vile. Tipping the contents down his throat in one slow gulp, the world started to fade away, and just like that he was gone too. The other side wasn't so sweet, Remus wasn't waiting to proclaim his forgiveness, it was just a pit of blatant nothingness. But at least he didn't have to live with the weight of the sin on his chest. He was free now, both of them were.
