The Legend of Zelda:

A New Hero?

By: LinkJedimaster

Prologue

Hyrule… A peaceful land once more, Ganondorf has been defeated by the brave Hero of Time, who with the legendary sword of evil's bane, slayed the man who seeked to wreck havoc on the kingdom. The young Hero of Time rescued princess Zelda and they live happily everafter.

Ten Years Later

Link and Zelda have been married for ten years now and have a son, whose name is Kelink. Link, doesn't have the same sense of adventure as he used to. And in their beautiful house in Kakariko Village, hanging on the wall, rests the sword still sheathed and hopefully never used again. But if it wasn't this wouldn't be a Zelda story then, would it?

I've said enough about Link. This story belongs to his son, Kelink.

Chapter 1

On a beautiful morning in spring, in the glorious land of Hyrule, something awful has occurred. The king has passed away and the officials of the palace are in indecision of who shall take over the throne. By right, Zelda is the true heir, but by marriage it should go to Link. In order to help in the making of the decision, Link and Zelda have gone to the castle and left their son home alone.

Kelink, unaware of all that is happening, leaves his home to meet with his friend, Jade. Jade is the daughter of Saria and Dark Link. Kelink and Jade have been friends for a long time. She lives in the Kokiri Forest with her mother. She's never met her father.

So Kelink heads to Kokiri Forest. At the main gate of Kakariko, he is stopped by a guard and is told that, "it's much too dangerous to be out in the mainland without any means to defend yourself!"

"Fine, I'll be right back!" Kelink says, heading back for his house. Back inside his house, Kelink looks around for something to use. In doing this, he stumbles upon a small dagger with his father's stuff. The dagger has a small red ruby in the hilt. Kelink had never seen this dagger before, but he took it any way with full intention of returning it.

Back at the gate the guard stops him again.

"Hey, little kid. You need to be careful out there. Hyrule Field can be a dangerous place at night."

"Alright, I'll be cautious," Kelink responded, a little frustrated.

"You remind me of your father, minus the green tunic. But the grey looks good on you."

"Um…thanks, I guess. Well, I'm going to go now. I'll see you when I get back. Bye," said Kelink.

"Ok. Take care of yourself, Kelink."

Just like that, Kelink exited out of the gate, heading for Hyrule Field. As he arrived in the field, he became a little uneasy at the fact he had never left Kakariko Village by himself before. And with nightfall rapidly approaching, Kelink began his journey toward Kokiri Forest.
