It starts with an idea…

A young man dressed in a blue and red outfit placed his helmet over his head and nodded in satisfaction. He then checked the two red balloons tied to his back to see if they were secured. Finding that they were, he grinned as he took a running leap off the cliff and started to flap his arms to take flight.

That soon becomes a dream.

The small pink puffball known as Kirby ran through the forest as he tried to make his way towards King Dedede's castle. The greedy king stole all of the food in Dream Land and it was up to Kirby to return what was stolen.

It starts with one step to start the journey…

Stepping outside, a young boy by the name of Ness looked towards the horizon, wondering where his journey would take him. All he knew was that he was tasked in finding the Eight Melodies and stopping Giygas. With a confident smile, he took off to find the first melody.

And make the impossible possible.

Glowing purple needles flew through the air before they hit their intended target. The young ninja girl praised her Ariados after seeing that all of the needles hit the bullseye. Janine knew that if she kept this up, she'd be able to be on par with her father in no time!

But sometimes the journey comes to an unfortunate end…

The sorrow could be felt all over as the small group stood before the grave marker. Villager was trying to comfort a crying Isabelle, while Mario was doing the same with Luigi. Link and Samus were also there to pay their respects to a man they all held in high regard.

After the many years of joy we've had.

So please understand…

We miss you.

In Memory Of

Satoru Iwata

December 6, 1959 – July 11, 2015

It's a little late, but here is my tribute to Satoru Iwata, who unfortunately died from a bile duct tumor.

I figured that the best way to pay tribute was to "showcase" some of the games that Iwata helped make possible; Balloon Fight, Kirby's Dream Land, EarthBound, and Pokémon Gold and Silver.

With Iwata's unfortunate passing, one does have to wonder if he'll get tribute in Super Smash Bros. with a Smash Fighter similar to how Gunpei Yokoi and Hiroshi Yamauchi did with Mr. Game & Watch and Duck Hunt Dog respectively. The most likely candidate would have to be Balloon Fighter as he's from one of if not the first game Iwata ever worked on.

Also, to those wondering why I used Janine instead of one of the Johto Gym Leaders, Iwata was responsible for the inclusion of the Kanto region in Gold and Silver by being able to compress the data enough to do so. Since Janine can only be encountered in the Kanto region in those games, in a way, she probably wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Iwata.
