"Happy birthday, Daddy!"

Noriko laughed as her daughter launched herself at Tetsuya. The old man laughed as well, catching the small girl in mid-leap. Father and daughter hugged each other fiercely then Saki turned and pointed at Noriko.

"Mommy and I made your favourites!"

"I can tell," he replied with a smile. His eyes locked with Noriko's. It was understood that, on this day, on January 26, Noriko prepared the meals. She had insisted, really. Tetsuya had always been there for her, no matter what came her way, and Noriko often wanted to let her husband know just how much she loved him.

Some days were simply more special than others.
