December 18th
Yes we're a little more than acquaintances,
Almost friends, but I'm still happy with that.
But I wish we could be more than friends.
I'm near you all the time;
Is it just coincidence?
I try to talk to you,
But do you ever notice me?
Now you avoid me,
Say no when I ask.
But once, you asked me!
Fear and suspicion took me over
And I said no, not trusting you.
Last night I saw you again,
Walked up to you and tried
To say those words:
Ask you and confess,
But I was too shy.
Too damned scared of rejection
Scared of your reaction.
Just like last time.
Your warm, chocolate eyes
Melting my soul every time they meet mine.
And that sweet smile,
so innocent and kind.
Is it better this way?
I'll look from a distance
Never giving a hint of it
Being nothing more than a friend
You'll never know.
Even if you do, you'll never think twice about me.
All we share is a day, a couple of things
But I'll be here.
Always waiting,
I know the poem was pretty tricksy, but it's about Nasuada and Murtagh. Well, Murtagh to Nasuada. See, he first time they met, they weren't exactly bff's, so thats the rejection part. The shared day is when they spent a day in his cell talking or something. I don't really remember, so I'm just guessing right now. I'm posting this endnote months after I posted the poem. Haven't read the book in a while either. Yeah, I think Nasuada has brown eyes. Thank you if you review or even read it. Originally, I didn't write this for Eragon, but when I reread it I realised it could be used so well as an Eragon pairing ficlet. That's why it leads as an Eragon/Arya but ends as a Murtagh/Nasuada. Anyway, can't help but say I know Murtagh's feeling well. Hope you enjoyed it, it was my first poem.

P.S.
I updated this today, June 2008, tweaking the poem here and there. Tell me if you like it any better now? Oh, and I seem to have a bit of a problem with punctuation :). Critical reviews are appreciated too. Thanks!
