Summary: A retelling of the Aizen and Orihime scene in chapter 249 of the manga, "Back to the Innocent." Turns out we were all under Kyouka Suigetsu's illusions when we thought Aizen was showing Orihime the Hougyoku. It's finally revealed what Aizen really showed to Orihime, and at last we learn the true reason for Aizen's betrayal of Soul Society, and why Gin and Tousen followed him. Pure crack.

Thank you for coming to my chambers, Orihime. I'm sorry to call on you so suddenly, but I have something to show you.
Would you please look at this?
(A column rises out of the floor and opens, revealing… a pair of shattered glasses.)
Ah, I see you understand. Without my glasses I can't see a thing. It's not merely that my vision has deteriorated slightly. Making Arrancar from Hollows, creating the royal key—without my glasses I cannot achieve any of that.
Actually, Orihime, I will tell you the secret I have told no one else. The real reason Gin, Kaname, and I left Soul Society is because all of us are visually impaired. Kaname is legally blind, Gin never opens his eyes, and I— I spent 100 years using Kyouka Suigetsu to hide my visual disability. But when we went to the Captain-Commander and asked him to comply with Title I of the Japanese with Disabilities Act, he refused, saying that it was not a "reasonable accommodation" to require all hollows to use Braille to announce their attacks and to allow us to convert our zanpakutous into long white canes.
Kaname said that we should demand justice, but Gin convinced me that we should prank Soul Society instead. He said we could make a YouTube video of the whole betrayal scene, it would go viral, we'd appear on Equals Three, and then those old geezers would finally listen to our cause.
Gin always has the best ideas.
You look puzzled. What, you don't believe me?
Why do you think all the walls in Las Noches are bare and white? It's because if they weren't, I couldn't spot my Arrancar moving against the backgrounds, and my reign of terror would be ended. They would make fun of me, just the way my classmates used to make fun of me when I was a child. I've been lonely all my life, you know, just because they called me "four eyes."
Haven't you noticed all the times I use my reiatsu to threaten people? It's because I can't see them well enough to attack them with my sword.
And even when I use my sword I have problems. Remember that time I stabbed Harribel?
...I thought she was Urahara.
So you see, it is a terrible handicap. But I don't dare show my weakness to anybody.
Nobody except you, that is, Orihime. You are the only one I trust.
Your power is "the rejection of events"—to negate the very things that happen. It is an incredible power, and it is my last hope. You will use that power of yours for me, Orihime, to repair my glasses, won't you?
