The red spotlight was set on both Star and Marco as they danced together.

Star couldn't think properly. Whenever she tried to think, her thoughts would always be focused on Marco and him alone. She was completely lost in Marco's chocolate brown eyes with a bewildered look on her face. It felt as if she was in some sort of trance or stupor, and she just couldn't look away. It was funny, really. It was funny how much Marco had taken over her life and how much Marco cares about her despite him hating her at first.

She couldn't help but acknowledge the fact that Marco looked so different with a mask on, it almost felt like she was dancing with a complete stranger.

Neither of them had noticed how everybody in the ballroom was crowded around them and watching their every move, and they hadn't noticed how their footsteps were perfectly synchronized. All that Star could do was look at Marco as he looked back at Star. They both felt as if they were floating above the clouds, holding hands and never letting go for all eternity.

It felt very... surreal. It felt as if they were both one instead of two. It was a feeling that was completely exotic to them, but it just felt right, like it was meant to be.

That was when Star remembered that their souls were being bound together.

The moon had chosen them to be together for life.

Star couldn't help but smile at the thought of being with Marco for the rest of her days. She had gradually grown a platonic liking for him, but suddenly she was more than happy to bring their relationship to the next level. She knew that her parents back at Mewni wouldn't approve of it but she would do anything to stay with Marco. She loved Marco more than ever, and Marco loved her.

Star managed to catch sight of Marco smiling warmly behind his mask, thinking the exact same thing as she was.

Both of their eyes glistened in the red light that was currently on them and before Star knew it, Marco had her head in his hands. Star responded by putting her hands at the back of Marco's neck, and they both leaned in for a kiss.

When both of their lips came in contact, the red spotlight had disappeared.

The job was done.

Their souls were intertwined forever.
