A/N: Based on the song "whoa (mind in awe)." enjoy.
whoa.
whoa (mind in awe): a song released by artist XXXTENTACION from his 3rd studio album SKINS in December 7, 2018. It talks about his troubled past.
It was weird to think about.
Fifteen years ago her game was plugged in and she was the rightful ruler of a sweet little racing game called Sugar Rush. She would handle all the random roster races for the next day after the previous one, and she would be in every single race.
Except that same day, an evil menace had taken over.
He went under the identity of King Candy, who had tried to delete her code in attempt to wipe her entirely, yet he had failed to do so. Now she was infamous for an unusual activity that no one else has ever experienced.
Glitching.
King Candy (not his true name) had misled all other fourteen racers by explaining how she is quite a threat to the game and if she ever races, their game gets unplugged. Therefore, she was mistreated badly, getting kicked, shoved, and whatnot. This was the only way to keep their game safe from her anyway, she was viewed as a huge threat to all the racers, and if she ever won a roster race, the players themselves would view her a such a threat as well.
But she was not having them cloud her little mind. She would do anything to race with everyone else, even if the chances of her game getting unplugged would be high. Her glitching would not define her as a threat as well, it was simply pixlexia, as she had explained. No matter what they do to her, she was able to get up. None of their words had tormented her mind.
Fifteen years later, she had met someone else not part of her game. Was he a threat like the nuisance who had stole her reign? No, he was just like her, mistreated and hated upon others, just for being the villain of a game. How did he get there you ask? Simple, in search of a medal (to her, coin) which would have changed his entire life. Pie, ice sculptures, a place to live, is what he would've got just because of that shiny little thing. Obviously when he first met her his initial thoughts was that she was an annoying little pipsqueak.
Not until he had witness the others' actions to her.
Seeing how they destroyed her "kart" that she made herself, he already thought that was uncool. Once she was shoved in the chocolate flavored mud, just like how he is thrown off the roof onto a big puddle of mud, that was it. Like the soft-hearted man he was, he stood up for her by scaring everyone away from her, before it would get anything worse. But he was still in search of that medal, which was stolen from her. A little argument had escalated into him smashing candy trees, and his frustration kicking in when trying to wreck a jawbreaker, which she already knew those were unbreakable. However, with one final blow, it splitted right in half.
From that, she had an idea.
She knew both of them wanted something, for her, it was to race. For him, it was that medal that would change his life. If he was to make her a kart, a real kart, she would win the race and get her medal back. What did he have to do? Just break stuff. He reluctantly agreed, good, his life will change if she wins that race after getting that kart. However, right when the tormented ruler had caught them in action of making kart, something she shouldn't be doing, there was one problem that would affect their deal.
She didn't even know how to drive.
That was it, he's never getting his medal back! All she needed to do was win a race, but she didn't even know how to race. Not her fault though, after all her code was deleted and she would have forgotten how to drive. Plus, racing was in her code.
However, she finally showed her home, right in a place called Diet Cola Mountain. Why does she live there? She hides from everyone else, so no one would be able to mistreat her. He wondered why she bums around in this place. Simple, everyone had thought she was a mistake and she shouldn't exist, and because of her glitching, she wasn't able to leave her game.
It's just one of the joys of being her.
Well, he was able to relate and decided to do the one thing that he needed her to do for his medal back, teach her how to drive. It can't be that hard right? He drove a spaceship (no, crashed it.) before. Sure enough, racing really was in her code, and now she has a tiny bit of a chance to win that race for him.
Now we all have our highs and lows in our lives, and that applies to her as well.
Meeting him and figuring out that he would benefit her was something to say the least. Can't you believe it, she finally has a real kart, both signed by her and him. Now with his help, she was able to prove that racing was in her code and she has a chance (again, tiny bit) to win the race and finally become a racer.
That was one of her highs.
Before she would be able to head to the tracks to race, she forgot one thing and went back inside. However, King Candy came up to him and decided to mislead him just like how he misled everyone else; if she got picked for being in the roster, players would be noticing it and think something was wrong with the game, which as a result, gets unplugged. But for her being a glitch, she wouldn't be able to leave her game, and when it gets unplugged, she dies with it. It was just for the sake of protecting her, he said. However he was able to get his medal straight from the code room, but only gave it to him if he had promised to keep her from racing for that reason.
He didn't want to do this to her, he simply knew that racing and being accepting was all she needed to be, doing this would simply crush that.
He had no choice.
Right when she got back after his talk with King Candy, she wanted to give him something? What was that you may ask? A small little cookie saying "To Stinkbrain" on one side. But when you flip it to the other side, it says three words.
You're my hero.
Gob, he didn't want to do this. Her calling him a hero is something he never gets. If he did this, would he even be her hero?
It was hard to do, but he had to explain to her that she simply can't race. However, she had noticed something right behind his shirt; his medal. Guess what, he sold her out by talking to King Candy in exchange for his medal, but like she always was since the beginning, she wasn't having it.
But he had no choice but to do the inevitable: destroy her kart.
She wept and screamed at the sight and sounds of hands smashing the the signed kart straight to smithereens. He had betrayed her, taking everything she wanted. He really was something to her.
A bad guy.
And that was one of her lows.
Of course, she was captured by King Candy before she would be able to go back and hide for a bit, she just had to get the thoughts out of her head after this whole incident. Sure enough she was locked up with glitch proof chains in the fungeon. This was it, the end of capturing her dream has been there, and she will never grab onto it.
Until the door was busted right open.
A familiar thing she had seen before rolled straight into the room; her kart. Who brought it in? He did. Thank Sour Bill for finally confessing about King Candy's lie. Her dream was finally in reach again, she for sure will be able to achieve it now. If there was one thing she was able to recall, it's what she told Ralph before taking off onto the roster race.
And I'm gonna win.
There was everything she had to dodge, ginormous gumballs falling from giant machines of them, whatever power ups that the other racers used, and.. basically she had things to dodge and veer away from.
And that was including King Candy himself, from right inside the mountains.
For once her glitching did benefit one thing, revealing King Candy's true identity, from TurboTime!, who had once attempted to take over another ill fated game called Roadblasters. Once Sugar Rush was plugged in, he went straight into action.
That wasn't the only benefit her glitching had. What did Turbo try to do, you ask? Ram her straight into a divider of some sort. There was simply only one thing to do just to escape from him.
Glitch.
And so she did, and now Turbo was out of her reach. A Cy-Bug comes out of nowhere and lands right in front of Turbo, eating him straight up.
However, before she could cross that finish line to reset her entire game, it was too late. The Cy-Bugs had multiplied to an extent and now there was no finish line. Everyone was able to evacuate straight out of the game except for only one person.
Her.
She told him to just leave, without her. Truth is, he didn't want her to die, he wanted to keep her safe, where no one mistreated her, where she is finally accepted, where she is finally able to do the one thing she has been dying to do.
Until he had an idea just from one word; beacon.
She stayed behind where she should be, while he was doing one thing that he didn't want to do, but he had to, and it's something at least one person has done in their life.
Sacrifice themselves.
Again, like how she was before they met, she wasn't having it. There's so many benefits her glitching had that she probably had lost count by now, because right before he would get incinerated by piping hot coca-cola, she glitched and glitched straight into his direction and catching him, right before he fell straight to his death.
Turns out he was able to succeed to do the exact plan he had decided to do; replicate the beacon straight from Hero's Duty, which would kill the Cy-Bugs permanently. Since Turbo had been fused by that Cy-Bug who had eaten him, he became quite a hybrid. As a Cy-Bug, you would be able to get attracted by the beacon and once you go straight into it, you die. For Turbo, that was unfortunate, as his dumb little part Cy-Bug self had ran straight into the beacon, killing him as well.
Turns out his friend, Fix-It Felix Jr was able to fix that finish line, and now she had one to cross again. Once she did, the game had reset, and it finally reverted to what it once was fifteen years ago, her being the rightful ruler of Sugar Rush and everyone treating her with respect. Just as she once was. Her life was the same as before now, except she has someone now, someone who is now her best friend and coolest friend in the whole arcade.
Someone like her.
Vanellope lay on her back alongside Ralph, hanging out like the best friends they are. They had done what they usually do everyday, go to Tappers for a good drink of root beer, BurgerTime for the amazingly delicious burgers (Gordon Ramsay would have approved), and now they're hanging out on the rooftop of the penthouse in Ralph's game, Fix-It Felix Jr.
Vanellope had that thought of the events of five years ago, the events that had changed both of their lives, the events that had saved both of their lives, it was something.
"Y'know Ralph," Vanellope brought up, "do ya ever remember when we met those years ago? I sure do."
"You know what Vanellope," Ralph responded, "I do. Man it's weird to realize how long ago that was. What if we had never met?"
And Vanellope only had one word to reply with.
"Whoa."
