She was sitting quietly on her side porch on a warm summer night with a glass of wine on hand

A/N: Okay, this is a very short one-shot, just a short rambling. I really enjoyed writing this.

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters.

She was sitting quietly on her side porch on a warm summer night with a glass of wine on hand. The gust of the night breeze sending shivers to her spine. The sound of the crashing waves trying to calm her senses from a hard day's work. She then allowed her mind to drift back to her life two years ago.

The chapter of her life that she just wanted to forget, to bury as deep as possible. It was the time wherein she lost all reasons to wake up every morning. She was like a zombie, a soulless human being. She went to work, saved lives but every time she did, she felt like she was this little hypocrite because she couldn't even save her own. She would go back to her nice fancy beach house but it didn't really matter, it wasn't home. Then she would drown herself with alcohol, attempting to numb all the emotions – the hurt, the pain, and regret. But she realized that no amount of alcohol could fully wipe away all that she was feeling because she would still find herself every night curled into a ball, tears still falling down.

One morning though, something made her change. She didn't know what it was but I she guessed that it was probably the realization that it wasn't right that she was taking all the blame of their failed marriage. He contributed something into it too and she was then determined not to let a broken relationship tear her into pieces.

So she started anew. Make a new chapter she figured. But just when everything was doing good and working well, he showed up in her doorsteps. He was there wearing his infamous smile, asking for forgiveness, declaring his love and begging for another chance. But it wasn't as simple as that; she couldn't risk her heart again. It was too dangerous.

Just then when she was about to wander to the trivial part of the chapter, she heard someone behind her.

"Hey babe, what's up?" a low husky voice asked.

"Nothing, just thinking" she replied.

He came nearer behind her, kissing her on the cheek, running his hands on his arms before intertwining both their hands.

She heaved out a happy sigh. "Derek, do you ever regret leaving Seattle for me?" this question has been hanging in her mind since he followed her.

He turned to her to look at her straight in the eyes. "No, not a single one." He replied shaking his head. "Do you regret taking me back?"

"No." she replied smiling. "Let's go back in" she invited; she stood up and took his hand on hers.

She did take a huge risk, but as much as she feared for her heart, she found out that it was only him who makes her complete.

She's only half-way in her own book which is called life. She had made a lot of chapters, in each one she gained and lost friends, she made and learned from each mistake but just like any other book, the main characters will always be in it. Maybe it was like them, they will always be Addison and Derek.

Although the ending of the book do not guarantee a happy one, it never hurts to cross your fingers and hope that maybe, just maybe it will be.

Okay, tell me what you think about this. Reviews make my day!! Thanks
