So, um, hi there. This is my first One Piece story, or piece of fanfiction in general, so please be kind.

One Piece doesn't belong to me, and only the plot (if any) is mine. Thank you and have a great [morning, afternoon, evening]

He knew that Luffy was fated to die.

Even if he wasn't Chopper, he knew that what Luffy has done shouldn't be possible. His Captain's victories against all of his opponents had to come at some sort of price. But whenever he saw the wide grin he dismissed the thought. Luffy was strong, yeah?

His Captain was going to be the Pirate King.

Luffy was strong enough to save him. He was strong enough to defeat the opponents he couldn't. Even if his sense of direction wasn't all that wonderful, there was a sense of knowing. Perhaps that was why he promised to fulfill his ambition for Luffy.

His Captain was a scrawny kid. Even he didn't look at him and say, "That's going to be my Captain." But he jumped in front of bullets for him, and even if the guy was immune to blunt force, the gesture wasn't lost. Luffy was a bit shorter than everyone else, true. (Of normal height, since Coby and Rika didn't really count.)

But the smile he wore made him look like a giant. A giant that could just possibly become the Pirate King. No. Luffy looked like a giant that would become the Pirate King. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. Luffy would become the Pirate King.

Luffy would become the Pirate King.

Yes, there would be difficulties. Opposition in the form of Lucci, Crocodile, and Blackbeard, would, and did exist. You can't become King without people wanting your position. But he would stand beside his Captain, and take down those who were below the notice of the future Pirate King.

But his Captain was indeed human.

Luffy never denied it, and while the feel of something different rested in his bones, he could die. The way he fought, though, made it clear that Luffy would invade anywhere, be it Heaven or Hell, for those he cared about.

He just didn't want to hold his body as he died.

It was a ridiculous notion that Luffy would die quietly

His Captain would go out with a bang. Luffy could die in battle or on an execution stand. He was a pirate, in every sense of the word.

He didn't want to lean forward a bit closer.

Strain his ears to catch those last words.

Shake his Captain as the idiot laughed softly on the blood stained ground.

Hold him closer as a bloody grin snaked its way onto his face.

He didn't want to bear his Captain's blood on his arms.

Luffy was not meant to die just yet, of course. He had that ambition, yeah? His Captain was not such an idiot that he would give up his dream just like that. His x-shaped scar meant he survived, right? Scars were important, they showed life. He gave up his eye for his Captain. The scar proved it.

Luffy was going to become Pirate King. An eye was worth it.

Maybe after all of their goals were finished, just maybe he would let his Captain off the hook. But not a minute sooner. Luffy was a selfish person, but as long as he lived, the swordsman would perhaps turn a blind eye to whatever else he did.

Luffy wasn't going to die anytime soon. He still had to become Pirate King.

"Zoro! Look Out!" Luffy's voice called, before a spherical object hit his head.

Perhaps he wouldn't be so forgiving this time.

"God damn it Luffy!" the green haired swordsman screamed.

So was it bad, terrible, or just okay? Please let me know by reviewing. Thank you and remember that every day is a happy day somewhere.
