Prologue

The eyes of the angels shined bright through the glass letting some light into the darkness. I lied there surrounded by silence; all you can hear is the sound of my beating heart if you listened closely. Numbness was taking over; an ocean of tears was preparing to fall out of my heavy eyes. Trust me I wanted to escape this world but I was afraid I would see your face the minute I closed my eyes. I miss you Chris, ever since we lost you everything has changed.

Can I ask you a favor? Tomorrow is my first day of junior year. I am not returning to Albert High, I will be saying hello to McKinley High, as the sun will rise. Stand next to me. Keep me strong. Help me come out of my shell and say hello to strangers who will may be my friends in the near future. Please Chris, just be there right beside me.

Mom said I should see if this school has a Glee club since I enjoy singing and loved it at Albert High. What do you think? If they have it and looking for new people this year, should I sign my name on the audition list?

A bright light shined through the door as a faint voice said, "Hey baby. Are you still awake?"

I placed my clammy palm over my eyes and replied, "I can't sleep."

She walked towards my bed and turned on the light that sat upon my nightstand. When there was light, I brought my eyes to meet her. She responded with a smile full of colors. I smiled back.

"Are you okay?" She took my hand and held it in hers.

"I'm scared mom. I'm scared for tomorrow."

"I know baby but you are going to be just fine. You are going to love McKinley High and you are going to make tuns of new friends."

Her hand was iced cold. The coldness felt nice against my warm skin. I could feel tears coming but I managed to hold them back.

"You should try to fall asleep. You have to wake up bright and early tomorrow," she said bending down and kissing my forehead.

As she let go of my hand, turned off the light and walked towards the door I said, "I love you mom."

"I love you too baby girl."

The door closed and the darkness returned.
