As you guys probably already know, I love one shots! Just a little something for the New Year, can't believe it's 2011 already...

Anyways, enjoy!

She had waited almost two hours in line, listening to crazed fans fawn over the author. She had even gone as far as asking the captain to let her off work early. And all of that for just a stupid autograph. But it wasn't really just an autograph. It was meeting the person that had kept her sane for all of those hard years when she had been in the dark. The fan girl inside of her surmounted her detective mode whenever she read one of his series. She loved his books and was quite keen on meeting him. Even if meeting him would only go as far as watching him sign her book.

It wasn't long before she was next, and when she was, her heart began to pound against he chest .

"Hello miss." He had said.

She gawked for a few moments, seeing her hero up close was better than she'd thought. He was a ruggedly handsome man. He reached out to take the book from her trembling hands. As he grasped it, their fingers brushed ever so softly and he looked up at her from his seated position. Their eyes locked intimately.

"Um, hi..." She answered shyly.

"How about that heat wave, huh? Summer can be hot as hell here." he placed the book gently on the counter and opened to the dedication page.

He reached out to take the book from her trembling hands. As he grasped it, their fingers brushed ever so softly and he looked up at her from his seated position. Their eyes locked intimately.

After another moment of staring, she nodded again although no words escaped her lips. She found it near impossible to detach her gaze at his friendly, deep sea, blue eyes.

He chuckled deep within his chest, gripping the sharpie tighter between his fingers.

"Who should I make it out to?"

She opened her mouth again, attempting to speak but still could not.

"Um... I..."

He laughed again, a hearty laugh, causing her brow to flex inward in embarrassment.

"You're cute when your brow furrows like that." He looked down at the book, signing it effortlessly. He closed the cover, and placed it delicately back into her hands before extending his other hand, offering a handshake.

Quite slowly, she took it, her face finally forming into a grin. "Thank you." She giggled, something she'd never done before.

"Of course Miss. Have a great day." He shook strongly, yet politely.

As Kate walked away she could faintly hear the person from behind her hush over the author.

"OMG! You are like, so amazing and I love all of your books and I'm your biggest fan ever! I want a picture with you!"

As her heart began to settle back into its normal, calm beat, she found the courage to open the cover of the book to see what he'd written.

To one of the only fans I hope to see again,

Miss Gorgeous Green Eyes

Until we meet again,

Richard Castle

She hadn't realized it, but the slight pain in her cheeks reminded her that she had been smiling the entire time. Unable to control her glee, she grinned all the way back to the car, reading his message over and over again.

"Wow..." she exhaled sharply, finally setting the book down on the passengers seat. Her smile still unfaded, she drove towards he apartment to regain her detective identity before heading back to the precinct.

It was official. Kate Beckett had managed to fall into her first celeb crush. One she knew would never get anywhere else besides that one meeting. But she could still dream, right?

I hope you liked it, and thanks for giving it a shot! I hope you review, even if you didn't like it, I still love feedback!

Much love,

Sarah
