A/N: This is the first story I have ever written, so reviews would be thoroughly helpful. I couldn't help but indulge in this particular pairing since they have a lot of potential.
Also, seeing as I want to avoid a filler chapter where it explains how Elsa can see Jack in the first place, her parents had told her stories of him to help cope with her powers. They thought if she heard about someone like her that she would find comfort in it. Just roll with it, yeah? And before I forgot, whenever a sentence or word is italicized, it's a thought of one of the characters. Anyway, without further ado, please enjoy this short prologue!
The night loomed over the tall castle in Arendelle, the moon shining through the windows and becoming the only source of light throughout the otherwise pitch-black rooms. The two young princesses slept soundly in their beds, as well as the rest of the castle's inhabitants save for a handful of guards who dutifully kept a watchful eye while the rest somehow managed to sleep in an upright position.
However, a loud creak in the floorboards stirred the older of sisters from her slumber, and she sleepily mumbled, "We'll play later, Anna. Go back to sleep." Elsa knew her sister would most likely persist as she always did when the urge to play struck, but the nudge to wake her never came.
A soft sigh escaped her lips as she sat up, rubbing the sleep from her eyes and letting them adjust to the dark of the room. She looked over to her sister, who was serenely asleep in her own bed, albeit messily as her hair stuck up in every direction.
The young princess' brows furrowed, wondering what had elicited the noise. Her bright blue eyes skimmed the room before landing on the outline of a tall boy holding a curved staff.
Immediately, she rose from her bed and her arms splayed before her as she attempted to strike the intruder with a formation of ice crystals. It landed on the wall behind him, but he raised his hands in defense. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, calm down!" he gently pleaded, even though she could cause no real harm to him.
Lowering her voice so as to not alert Anna, she narrowed her gaze and asked, "Who are you?" Now it was his turn to be confused as this was perhaps the first time anyone had ever asked. Wait, this is the first time someone asks you, he thought to himself. Before he could help himself, he skeptically asked, "Yo- you can see me?"
His question struck her odd, but she slowly nodded, trying to formulate an idea to gain the attention of the guards. While Elsa knew she could hold her own- despite being half his size- she wanted to assure her sister's safety. The white-haired boy paused a moment before uttering the three words the little princess would never forget, "I'm Jack Frost."
