Hey everyone. This story was written for Halloween Feel Box Funfair Event, and October Writing Club's Disney Challenge on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. For Halloween Feel Box I used the prompt from Feel Box 3 which was prompt 1. Baron/Helena. For Disney Challenge I used the prompt from Characters 1. Jack Skellington - Write about someone charming. I hope you all enjoy The Death of Love.
Looking down at the dead body of the love of his life The Baron can't help but wonder how they'd come to this point. How did things get this bad that she'd rather die than be with him?
"How did things get this bad, Helena?" he asked her dead body. "Why couldn't you just come home with me? And we could be happy together like we were before all of this."
Helena watches from a little way off wondering why if he wanted her to return with him would he actually go as far as to kill her. Did he mean for her to die because of his own selfish ambitions? Was it ambition or did he actually love her?
"I'm sorry, Helena," she hears the Baron tell her body as he picks her up and cradles her in his arms. He seems a wreck as he sits there and sobs against her not moving chest. "I didn't mean for things to end up the way they did. I really didn't. I was going to bring you back. I wanted to bring you back but you wouldn't listen. Why wouldn't you listen?"
Helena wants so badly to answer him but doesn't think that'd he understand why she was still there. She had to look after the diadem that was not to far from the Baron. She'd have make sure that no one could use it's power she didn't think that the Baron or her mother would understand those reasoning's for her leaving.
"It's not fair," she hears the Baron murmur as he continues to hold her. "We were supposed to end up together." She sees something register in his mind and a fear for her old friend seizes her. "And we will end up together."
The Baron takes the knife he'd used to end her life and turns it on himself. She counts one stab for each of the stabs that she had received and then more to boot. She watches as his lifeless body ends up gently entangled with her own.
"Helena," his voice once thought to be so charming and charismatic to her now sounds like a shadow of it's former self, "I'm so sorry. Please forgive me, my love."
She wants to forgive him but how could she even begin to after the harsh manner in which he brought about her death. She crosses her arms across her chest and looks at him.
"I don't think I can at the moment, my dear Baron," she remarks gently trying to let him down gently but knowing that it would hit him like a ton of bricks once the words sunk in. "Eventually."
In death she allows him to bring her back to Hogwarts knowing that there isn't much she can do to protect the diadem in her current form. One day the dratted thing would return to Hogwarts and she'd be there to protect it.
I hope you all enjoyed The Death of Love. This is short little look of what happened when Helena Ravenclaw was murdered by the Bloody Baron.
