Hey everyone. This story was written for both The Return of the Chocolate Frog Cards and Build a Monster Workshop on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The prompt for The Return of the Chocolate Frog Cards was to write for Fleur Delacour. The task for Build a Monster Workshop was the prompt of seashell for the monster's arms. I hope you all enjoy A Day on the Beach.
"Come on Mummy," she hears her young daughter call from ahead of her on the beach that's not that far from Shell Cottage. "I've got something pretty to show you."
Bill smiles lovingly at her as she picks her long flowing dress up enough so that it doesn't drag on the ground when she walks. It has been almost five years and she can't imagine her life without this wonderful man by her side. He nods as though telling her to go see what their daughter wants to show her.
"I'll be right," she tells him as she begins to walk towards their child who is kneeling over something in the sand.
"Mummy look," Victorie says in a happy childish tone. One that Fluer can't even remember having been able to use at any point in her own life.
Kneeling down beside her daughter she follows the tiny hand's gesture towards the sandy ground. Laying in the sand is cracked seashell. The colors all dark blues and soft grays with tinge of pink at the edges as though someone thought they should put a splash of color into the thing.
"Isn't pretty Mummy?" Victorie asked looking up her hopefully.
It wasn't the pretty in the classical terms of the word. But in it's own quirky way the shell very pretty. Fleur smiled at her daughter as she picked up the shell and held it out to her daughter.
"Why don't we go show this to Daddy?" she suggested. "I think he'd like this very much."
"Me too," was the response as Victorie took the shell in her small hands and raced off towards Shell Cottage and her waiting father.
Bill was kneeling down to look at their daughters little discovery when she joined them outside their home. She watched her husband handle the shell as gently as though it was a baby.
"It's as pretty as you and Mummy are," he was telling Victorie. "Why don't we put it in a special place?"
Fleur smiled as she knew the exact place they should put. It would be fitting after all if the entrance to Shell Cottage had a shell over the doorway. Smiling as she suggested her idea Fleur knew her life was finally good.
I hope you all enjoyed A Day on the Beach. It's short, sweet, and to the point. And it has all the fluff I could ever put into anything.
